PHOTOS: White Marsh Firefighters' Christmas Trees Support Company

White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company junior cadets assisted with netting and loading trees this weekend.

Holly Isaacs said she used to buy her Christmas Trees at Lowe's or Home Depot.

"Now we support local. It's been two or three years since we started getting our trees here and we love it," said Isaacs, an Overlea resident.

She was one of hundreds of community members who bought her tree and trim from the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company so far this season. This weekend, volunteers and junior cadets also sold wreaths, garland and pit beef sandwiches. Santa helped with sales, as well.

"We've sold a lot this year—a lot of first-time customers. They come here because our trees are always fresh. And it helps us out because all of the money goes back to the company," said Kevin Palmer, company president.

This year, members of the company's junior cadet program, mostly Perry Hall Middle School students, took on an even greater role. On Saturday, they helped trim, net and load trees for customers.

"I like to work—it's fun," said junior cadet Aiyana Lemmons.

Tree sales will continue daily until Dec. 23 at the fire station at 5419 Ebenezer Rd. See the Patch event listing for details.
