Two Santa trackers are competing for your attention this Christmas Eve.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD)—charged with keeping the United States and Canada safe from dangers originating from the sky or space—again provides its official Santa Tracker, marking The Big Man's every move through both hemispheres.
The service started in 1955, and was first available only by telephone.
Today, included on the website, is a countdown, activity page, tally of gifts delivered and flight tracking system. The map system, for the first year ever, is being powered by the Bing search engine, rather than Google.
Google is offering a competing selection of Santa tracking activities, including detailed map and arrival information, updates on packages delivered and status updates like "Still smiling." and "Rudolph's nose just turned red."
