Cornstalks, football, scarves, crisp weather and cozy socks.. what reminds you of Fall?

Cornstalks, football, scarves, crisp weather and cozy socks.. what reminds you of Fall?

Can’t put my finger on what I love the most… bonfires, camping, hot apple cider, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and leaves transforming into beautiful shades of ash, cherry and maple. Hay bales, wool sweaters, mums, and steaming hot cocoa. Hoodies, crisp air, boots, jeans, flushed cheeks and my birthday!  All signs that Fall has officially arrived! Fall has always been my favorite season for all of the above and more. So far, I’ve made my trip to my pumpkin patch, bought my new fashionable boots (not to mention the entire necessary fall wardrobe), had my first pumpkin spice latte, and completed my seasonal mum purchase. How are you breaking in your fall? Maybe celebrating at Red Brick Station’s Pumpkin Ale Release Party on October 11th? This is one thing I find myself definitely counting down for! Everyone loves a good fall pumpkin beer, stop in Red Brick and see why theirs is so popular! Beginning at 7pm, a night full of delicious pumpkin ale, music, fun, giveaways and more!

If beer’s not your thing, adopt a new skill this fall season and visit A.C.Moore for their Lion Brand Yarn Cutting on Sunday, October 14th. You could knit yourself a new fall sweater in no time! From 9:30AM- 2PM, A.C.Moore is hosting a wealth of activities from Make-N-Takes, Fall festive demos, and giveaways on the hour! Hungry? Competitive? Maybe both? Don’t miss out on Red Brick Station’s First EVER Chili Cook Off on Sunday, October 21st at 6pm! Yummmm… hot chili on a cool fall night! Come to taste test and vote for the best chili OR join in on the competition. Registration for participation begins today at Red Brick! Better hurry, because amazing prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners so the spots for competing are going to fill quickly! More details to come.
Don’t worry, we didn’t forget the little ones! Halloween is just around the corner and I hope your costume is picked out because THE AVENUE at White Marsh Annual Trick-Or-Treat continues on Saturday, October 27th at 3pm and hey, make a day of it! Barnes & Noble is hosting a Halloween themed story time at 12:00pm featuring "The Monster's Monster," by Patrick McDonnell followed by a Hocus Pocus, Abra-Cadabra Magic Show for kids in the Main Plaza at 2:15pm. I’m thinking this is something I’ll definitely be hiding in the kids crowd for- I can’t deny that I’ve always loved a magic quarter, disappearing bunny, guess my playing card or reappearing dove act myself…
We’re certainly getting into the season and celebrating Fall here at THE AVENUE. I hope our activities inspire you to get out and do the same!

This place is awesome. Used it a lot when my kid was 2-3. If I had another, I'd not hesitate to takeRead More him here. Then again, I watched my kid like a hawk - and you know, actually played WITH him - while we were there. As a result, my kid never came close to being injured by another unruly kid. Just saying.

My sister-in-law actually played with my nephew too Tim. Unlike EVERY OTHER single parent that wasRead More there. However, you can't tie your child to you. They came there to play. Bullies move very quick. When my nephew fell and was visibily scared, not a single parent except for one even noticed. Nobody from the library was in site. You are right that if parents were required to pay attention to their children then there would not be an opportunities for bullies because the parents of those bullies would be watching them also. When the group came from a religious school in Pikesville this is exactly what happened. All the parents stayed with their kids. All other parents, with little exception stayed in a waiting room talking amongst themselves paying little attention to their children. My nephew has been to all kinds of playgrounds and never been attacked by older kids before. Next time, if my nephew is attacked by an older child I will urge my brother to call the police and press charges against the parent. However, irreponsible Storyville need not worry -- won't be back there. Just wish our tax dollars weren't supporting this.

Let me put this in more practical terms. 1. My sister-in-law suggests that the bully seemed about 8Read More years old and probably shouldn't have been left at Storyville to begin with. There is no ID system at Storyville for childs age. 2. The bully caused various kinds of mayhem. Knocking down things, shouting, etc. No one from the library is actually in Storyville so there was no disciplinary action taken such as removing the child. 3. Parents should not view Storyville as a babysitter and not be allowed to congregate in the waiting area, leaving their children to play alone. 4. Items that could be used to cause serious injury should be removed from Storyville. 5. Cameras. If an 8 year old hits a 3 year old at Storyville where parents are suppose to be watching their children, I want proof for a court case. Yes, it's a shame it can't just be a pleasant place to take your kids but it isn't. It is filled with unrully children and uninterested parents. A child SHOULD NEVER leave a library with two bruises across his face EVER.
