Although the kettlebell workout has European roots, this weekend, it is decidedly All-American.

Local gym owner (and professional strongman) Dan Cenidoza has pledged to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project by doing what he and his students do best: swinging heavy kettlebells.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a military charity that aims to better the lives of servicemen and servicewomen injured in combat.

"Art & Strength will have an Open House on July 5th from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.  There will be an instructor available all day long to coach people on kettlebell swing technique if they do not already know how to do them," according to a release. "This will be a catered event with complimentary food & drink for your donation.  You do not need to do swings to attend - everyone is welcome!"

The marathon "cents for swings" fund-raiser will yield one penny for every swing of the kettlebell. A Maryland State Trooper has promised to swing 1,775 times to honor the founding date of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Art and Strength is located at 8019 Belair rd, Suite 12, Baltimore, MD, 21236.
