Chainsaw Carver, Grand Opening at Perry Hall Square Saturday

Ace Hardware and Salvo Auto Parts have both planned Saturday events.

Expect a flurry of activity at Perry Hall Square Shopping Center, at the corner of Belair and Ebenezer roads, on Saturday.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Oct. 6, Ace Hardware is hosting a STIHL Demo Day. World-renowned chainsaw carver and Perry Hall High graduate Jim Calder plans to carve two four-foot stumps, donated by Mill Lumber Yard in Fallston. The finished sculptures will be donated to Perry Hall Middle School. Calder will also teach kids how to carve sweet potatoes.

Equipment demos, discounts on STIHL items and food will also be available throughout the event.

Check the event listing for details.

But just next door, another celebration is taking place.

Between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Salvo Auto Parts is celebrating its grand opening. Auto product giveaways and food will be available all day. Raffles and a car wash will benefit the Perry Hall High School Athletic Booster Club and soccer and lacrosse teams. Attendees may win Orioles and Ravens jerseys and an iPhone 5. Prizes are also available to those who participate in the car show.

A ribbon cutting with local officials is planned for 10 a.m.

More information is available on the event listing.

Are you planning on attending either event? How are you spending your weekend? Tell us in the comments.

You know what this shopping center needs? A bagel place. :)

I was just commenting to my wife on the way to the soccer field this morning that if they ended up putting one in the Honeygo Village Shopping Center, I wouldn't really be a customer due to my work location. Would hit it once on more weekends then not. If they put one in this shopping center though...I'd be there three mornings a week for sure. Part of why I'm a Bagel Bistro regular is it's on my way around the Beltway to work.
