Merritt Athletic Clubs, which operates 10 gyms in the greater Baltimore area, announced the grand opening of its Super Club in White Marsh.

The new club—located at 5301 Campbell Boulevard in White Marsh—opened to the public Monday after accepting memberships for the past several months.

“This gym was built from the ground up with families in mind,” Terry Dezzutti, COO of Merritt Athletic Clubs, said.

The 45,000-square-foot facility includes a state-of-the-art outdoor aquatic center with three pools—one Olympic-size pool, a family fun pool and a kiddie pool.

There are also saunas; fitness studios for yoga, barre, body pump, cycle and group fitness classes; a cardio movie theater; Maria D's restaurant featuring wraps and salads; and state-of-the-art cardio equipment.

“We are very excited about this new facility,” Dezzutti said. "We wanted to create a destination and an experience."

A grand opening celebration is planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, including the following:
  • Clowns
  • Moon bounces
  • Face painters
  • Stilt walkers
  • Jugglers
  • Hammer strength contest for kids
  • Free food from local restaurants
  • Fitness demonstrations for all ages
  • DJs from Mix 106.5 FM (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) with their cash cube
  • Special appearance by a Baltimore Raven
  • Ribbon-cutting with Baltimore County Councilwoman Cathy Bevins

Said Dezzutti: “We welcome everyone from the community to join us and celebrate fitness."

Yeah wonderful. They didn't mention it's $100/month. Plus more traffic that the area doesn't need. There is another gym that recently opened in White Marsh/Middle River off 43. It's much cheaper and not a corporate gym like Merritt.
