For several weeks, crews have prepared the foundation on property between and the along the 9600 block of Belair Road.
Officials confirmed Friday the location will house a 10-bay Firestone Complete Auto Care facility. Scheduled to be completed in late December, possibly early January, it is expected to offer vehicle maintenance, repairs and tires.
Managers plan to hire 10-12 people to work at the new shop, said Jeremy Smith, manager of Bridgestone Retail Operations-Communications, Firestone's parent company.
Smith was unable to share how much money was being invested in the new store. "We don't normally divulge that information," he said.
The Firestone is planned within a short distance of several independently owned vehicle maintenance and repair shops, including directly across the street.
Smith said the new store is part of an "expansion program to go into new markets where we feel there is a lot of potential."
"There are situations where we'll be in competition other businesses, but we feel we offer a unique experience," he added.
