Santa Takes Lunch Break at Olive Garden

The jolly old elf was in the mood for Italian while passing through White Marsh on Thursday.

Even Santa needs a lunch break.

He and Mrs. Claus were spotted Thursday afternoon at the Olive Garden in White Marsh.

The pair had just returned from an appearance at a daycare at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jarrettsville, they said.

Santa said his preparations for Christmas were almost complete and gave some final advice to area children: "They should listen to their parents."

Mrs. Claus also reminded children to "listen for jingle bells on the night before Christmas and leave carrots for the reindeer."

Their appearance caused a stir among restaurant goers. Many waved and at least one little girl, Noelle Watson of Essex, ran up to whisper a few last-minute Christmas wishes into his ear.

They were joined during lunch by their close friends, Glenn and Theresa Shiflett of Edgemere.
