Resting his hands on a small cafe table, manager Rick Saini takes a break from behind the counter of the four-year-old location at .
"Technically it's not fast food. It's not pre-prepared. It's fresh food, not fast food," Saini said when asked if there was a demand for another fast food restaurant in Perry Hall. "This is a healthy option."
The community's third Subway franchise is expected to open by the end of August. The newest store will be located along the 9600 block of Belair Road near in the Perry Hall Marketplace, about a mile and a half from the Honeygo location.
Both stores share the same franchise owner and will be managed by Saini. He expects to hire seven to eight new workers, he said.
Another Subway store, owned by different franchisee, is located in the Silver Spring Shopping Center, near . Ten additional locations are located within about five miles of the heart of Perry Hall, according to the corporate website.
Saini was confident the community would embrace the new sub shop, in spite of the high concentration. "They serve different groups of people," he said.
The Honeygo location is relatively "hidden," he said. Most of its customers live in nearby housing developments. The new store's location along Belair Road is expected to provide increased exposure.
"People driving to Kinsgville and Bel Air can stop on their way home from work and pick up dinner," Saini said.
