Black Friday at White Marsh Mall!

After the final slice of pie has been eaten, it’s time for another great Thanksgiving tradition: Black Friday shopping!

After the final slice of pie has been eaten, the leftovers are stowed away for many dinners to come and the last touchdown has been scored, it’s time for another great Thanksgiving tradition: Black Friday shopping!

Everyone has their own approach to Black Friday shopping. In my family we tend to go out at about 7am, when the crowds are in the transition period from the all-nighters to the day-time shoppers. But I know plenty of people that prefer to go at midnight, before they even go to bed. No matter what your Black Friday shopping strategy is, we all know there are lots of benefits to shopping early.

So, why shop early? For the best deals, of course! Smaller crowds and easier parking are added bonuses if you go first thing in the morning. Imagine having most (or all) of your holiday shopping done before the end of November! And paying almost half the price as you would originally is a pretty nice perk as well. Another good tip is to know where you’re going BEFORE you get to the mall so you can have a solid plan and outline of where to go instead of walking back and forth from one end to the other.  Check out the mall website to see the directory and to plan your trip accordingly.

The mall officially opens at 5am, but there will be plenty of activity well before then. This year at White Marsh Mall, we’re excited to announce that we have over 50 of our retailers opening at 12:00 midnight on Friday to help you get the best deals and a jump start on your holiday shopping.

So who’s opening early? Just to name a few, you’ll find…

  • Aldo
  • Kirkland’s
  • Vans
  • American Eagle
  • Deb Shops
  • DTLR
  • The Disney Store
  • Bath & Body Works
  • Rue21
  • Aeropostale

And many, many more! Some of your favorite food vendors will also be open at midnight so you can grab some late-night or early morning refreshments to keep going.

Click HERE for a complete list of retailers opening at midnight on Black Friday!

The mall will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but Boscov’s will be open from 7am-1pm and Sears will open at 8pm.  You can access these stores form their exterior entrances. On Black Friday, you can expect to find Macy’s and Sports Authority open at midnight. Boscov’s will re-open at 4am and JCPenney opens at 6am.

You can also expect access to criminals around, so be aware while you are out shopping. Pretty sure those buses still run...

I don't patronize White Marsh Mall any longer. But, even when I did, it's been years since I've been there between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
However, even before the mall became so seedy, it just didn't conjure up a holiday atmosphere. For years, they didn't play holiday music. And, except for Santa, the only decorations were potted poinsettias near the escalators and those giant foam "things" hanging from the ceilings. I'd rather shop online. Which I did again this year, and I'm all done.

Open on Thanksgiving. How pathetic.

Terrible thing. Let's go back to the old days when the only people working on Thanksgiving were 7-11 workers, police officers, firemen, gas station employees, waiters, cooks, people working at college and NFL and high school stadiums, TV and radio station employees, etc.

It's all about that almighty dollar. Zero cares for employees.
Yup, business as usual.

The only way to go back to the old days is if people stop shopping on Thanksgiving Day. But if the bargains are there, that won't happen. What happened to spending time with family, counting your blessings...

This place is awesome. Used it a lot when my kid was 2-3. If I had another, I'd not hesitate to takeRead More him here. Then again, I watched my kid like a hawk - and you know, actually played WITH him - while we were there. As a result, my kid never came close to being injured by another unruly kid. Just saying.

My sister-in-law actually played with my nephew too Tim. Unlike EVERY OTHER single parent that wasRead More there. However, you can't tie your child to you. They came there to play. Bullies move very quick. When my nephew fell and was visibily scared, not a single parent except for one even noticed. Nobody from the library was in site. You are right that if parents were required to pay attention to their children then there would not be an opportunities for bullies because the parents of those bullies would be watching them also. When the group came from a religious school in Pikesville this is exactly what happened. All the parents stayed with their kids. All other parents, with little exception stayed in a waiting room talking amongst themselves paying little attention to their children. My nephew has been to all kinds of playgrounds and never been attacked by older kids before. Next time, if my nephew is attacked by an older child I will urge my brother to call the police and press charges against the parent. However, irreponsible Storyville need not worry -- won't be back there. Just wish our tax dollars weren't supporting this.

Let me put this in more practical terms. 1. My sister-in-law suggests that the bully seemed about 8Read More years old and probably shouldn't have been left at Storyville to begin with. There is no ID system at Storyville for childs age. 2. The bully caused various kinds of mayhem. Knocking down things, shouting, etc. No one from the library is actually in Storyville so there was no disciplinary action taken such as removing the child. 3. Parents should not view Storyville as a babysitter and not be allowed to congregate in the waiting area, leaving their children to play alone. 4. Items that could be used to cause serious injury should be removed from Storyville. 5. Cameras. If an 8 year old hits a 3 year old at Storyville where parents are suppose to be watching their children, I want proof for a court case. Yes, it's a shame it can't just be a pleasant place to take your kids but it isn't. It is filled with unrully children and uninterested parents. A child SHOULD NEVER leave a library with two bruises across his face EVER.
