There has been an "issue" at PHHS over the last year or so, where the staff routinely "forget" to fly the flag at the start of school. On the 1st day of school, with media coverage for the 50th anniversary of PHHS, the flag was not flying. This was brought to Councilman Mark's attention, and since that day the flag has been flown daily. However, over this past weekend it was noted that the flag had never been taken down at the end of the school day Friday. Old Glory hung through the darkness and rain all weekend. I, along with many of my colleagues, friends, and alumni find this to be an insult against our community and country, especially as our young soldiers continue to fight for our freedoms. I called the school this morning to complain and was matter-of-factly told that the custodian must have forgotten. This is beyond sad. How can I trust the school to educate my student when they cannot master a simple task such as putting up and taking down a flag on a daily basis? Perhaps you can do a story on this..community pride or lack thereof?
