Letter: Always Thank a Cop

I worked overnights for over a year at the CVS when it first opened and the police stopped in every single night to check up on us and make sure nothing weird was going on. Any time we had an incident they were there quickly and handled any issues we had (and we had some weird ones). They are fantastic though, especially Officer Allender and Officer Sheetz. I miss hearing the crazy stories from them!

Nice letter. Our public servants don't get enough credit. They are there for you every day and every night. They don't get to go home early for heat or snow or natural disasters. They work holidays when others are home with their families. They are taken for granted but are the first to be blamed for not doing enough when something goes wrong. These people deserve all the benefits they have and more. We shouldn't criticize their pension or how much overtime they make (It's not that much). We shouldn't call them out for being able to retire before most people...this is a young person's job. There is only so many years of fight a person has in them. There is only so many scuffles a police officer can get in and only so many fires a person can fight and only so many stretchers a person can lift. Let's all make it a point to thank our police and firefighters the next time yo see one in a store. They put your life before their own.

I agree 100%!!! Our White Marsh police are always very understanding and overly responsible when handling calls. Unlike other forces which are too laid back and ignore many things; or the opposite, very aggressive forces which over react and over judge: White Marsh precinct seem to be right down the middle, which is perfect! They know when to give someone the benefit of the doubt and when to take certain situations more serious then normal.
I like seeing the local police randomly at 7-11 during the day and night, or doing a drive-thru at the parks, or making a drive-thru after schools let out through the back streets.
