Moviegoers had a brief intermission Saturday as police investigated a package at AMC Loews White Marsh that reportedly led to an evacuation of the theater.

The item turned out to be a medical device belonging to a patient, the Baltimore County Police Department said in a statement at 4:30 p.m.

At 3:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious package leading to the evacuation, according to The Baltimore Sun, which reported the device was a nebulizer for a child whose parents returned to the theater to retrieve it around 4 p.m.

A nebulizer is a piece of equipment requiring a hose and air compressor to turn asthma medication into a mist, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Awareness of suspicious situations in movie theaters has heightened since the July 2012 massacre in Aurora, CO.

The suspected Aurora shooter James Holmes, 26, faces more than 150 charges for the shootings that left 12 dead and 58 people injured in the theater, according to CNN; he is pleading not guilty by reason of insanity in a trial slated to begin in mid October, the news network reported.

In March, the Egyptian Cinemark theater at Arundel Mills was evacuated after a homemade explosive device went off inside a theater. Nobody was reportedly injured as a result of that incident.

The Baltimore County Police Department said of the incident at the theater in White Marsh on Saturday that there was "no suspicious package" and the all clear was given by 4:30 p.m.
