Anti-Bullying Rally in Response to School Gun Incidents

Community members plan to meet at First Baptist Church of Essex Thursday evening.

In response to involving students in and Perry Hall, a church is planning an anti-bullying rally.

First Baptist Church of Essex at 911 Mace Avenue is hosting the "Code Blue" rally at 7 p.m. on Sept. 13.

Organizer Sharon Mager told Patch that community members were moved by the incident on Tuesday at , where an eighth-grade student was .

The incident was reported just over two weeks after a in Perry Hall High School's cafeteria on the first day of school. 

"Code Blue is actually a term students at Stemmers Run Middle School began using. Code Blue means immediate attention is required and immediate attention is definitely needed to address this issue in our schools. The students are wearing blue to stand against bullying," Mager stated in an email.

"The rally will include special speakers and information for parents, students and the community as a whole to make a real difference in the schools, and in the neighborhood. And, of course, we're all going to wear blue," she continued.
