Woman, 84, Killed in Philadelphia Road Accident

A woman died following a single-vehicle traffic accident Friday afternoon between Perry Hall and White Marsh.

UPDATE (Jan. 30, 10:27 a.m.)—An 84-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle traffic accident along Philadelphia Road, between Perry Hall and White Marsh, on Friday afternoon. 

Police have not yet released the victim's identity, according to Baltimore County police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., the victim was traveling eastbound on Philadelphia Road near Maudes Way when she lost control of her car, a 1993 Ford Crown Victoria, and began swerving from one edge of the road to the other. She struck two mailboxes, a small tree and a large tree off the southern edge of the road, according to Rogers-Feher.

The victim was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma by medevac helicopter, where she died at about 1:45 p.m., Rogers-Feher said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and no one else was injured, she said. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Editor's Note: Police originally announced that the victim was 85 years old, but later confirmed that she is 84 years old.

Bill you are probably right . Her son is on the way up to Maryland. Jack ( son) spoke to my husband this am. He was the only child of Mrs. Betty .

She was not cut off, she had to have had a medical ailment prior to the accident. My prayers go out to the family.

Carole, I heard more details tonight. Please express my condolences to the family. I can't get it out of my head and wish there was more that I could have done. This happened right in front of my eyes and I feel just terrible.

Viewings were Thursday Feb 2 ,and Funeral, for Mrs Betty was Friday Feb 3, 2012 .
