Perry Hall Bank of America ATM Customer Robbed

Police are investigating the reported Monday night robbery.

UPDATE (11:22 a.m., Sept. 25)—Baltimore County police responded to the Perry Hall Bank of America Monday night for a reported ATM robbery.

At about 10:15 p.m., shortly after the victim had made a $40 cash withdraw, a man armed with what may have been gun approached and robbed the victim at the outdoor machine in the 9600 block of Belair Road, according to police.

A police helicopter remained over the area as of 11 p.m.

The suspect was described as a man between 25 and 30 years old, 5 feet and 9 inches tall, with a medium build, according to Lt. Ron Brooks of the White Marsh police precinct.

Brooks urged community members not to use outdoor ATMs after dark. "Use an ATM inside of a convenience store—they're obviously much safer to use after dark," he said.

The investigation is ongoing, he added.

I stand by my belief, Thank You Federal Government for putting low income people into areas with less than 10% poverty level. The thought process that these low imcome people would automatically become good residents. Not what I have seen in my own neighborhood. These Move to Opportunity familes still continue their bad habits. I don't see the counseling these families are suppose to receive are making a difference. It will be interesting who is culpit is in this robbery.

Thanks for the story. I had heard the helicopter for hours last night, it's quite unnerving to hear it and not know what the issue is. So scary that this is so close to where I live and to schools... over $40, just sad.

DS, don't use the ATM after dark is common sense no matter where you live. There are bad people everywhere. My family first moved to Perry Hall back in the 80s when it was much quieter and secluded. Now it's just a few blocks to 95 and we are all easy pickings now. Urban sprawl is never a good thing. I saw my hometown of Gardenville turn into a trash heap in less than 10 years due to it. I don't like changing my way of life, but did you read the article about the woman who saw a man coming out of her house while she was out walking her dog? I live very close to that house and it's very upsetting. I have children who play here.

and most of you would rather have stricter gun control laws. I think it should be a given to the "thugs" that I might just kill you for $40 of my hard earned $
Steve September 25, 2012 at 07:32 PM
What the Hell does gun control have to do with anything. There are still people being held up at ATM's in gun friendly states..

"Why don't we just say-hey people since we can't control the thugs in our area-you will be prompted to change your way of life as a result!" DS, you have hit the nail right on the head. That is exactly what has happened. My life in Perry Hall in no way resembles my life in Perry Hall almost 30 years ago. It's a horrible shame. And, aside from the burst of the housing bubble, this has affected our property values as well. Other areas have suffered much less, and are rebounding much more quickly than we are.

Yes it does because when they kicked out people from the city, they did that "move to opportunity" garbage and sent them all over the place, including Edgewood. Since they don't want to shop at their filthy, dangerous shopping centers in Edgewood and Joppatowne, they come to our nice community and screw it up with their violence, language and a host of other crimes.

What color hair? What color clothes? I was hoping for a better description.

I don't think that crime was commited so he could feed his family. Chances are it was to feed a drug habit, but Who Knows?

Red Dolphin September 26, 2012 at 01:54 AM
cant do that Marty we might offend some one ( should it be a minority) in now am I saying its not all races, but you see see hesitation or reservation when it comes to minorities,,,,,,,,,,,, we are brain washed to "appease" the less fortunate
Red Dolphin September 26, 2012 at 01:55 AM

rob t. September 26, 2012 at 02:01 AM
Guess what? We live in perry hall right which is still in Baltimore. We are not immune to the crime and chaos which plagues are city. For years the city has progressively gotten worse and we sat back on our high horse and watched. Buckle up the worse is yet to come.
Red Dolphin September 26, 2012 at 02:02 AM
as I said could be either ( or any) but the percentages are ?,,,,,,,,,,, ssshhhhh we cant say might offend some one

Statistically crime rates are diminished when carry laws are less restrictive. Look at Ohio they recently celebrated a decrease in crime due to the loosening of their restrictions on right to carry. My point was and still is loosen the right to carry in Maryland and watch these type of travesties diminish. Again, it would make the perpetrators think twice before randomly committing crime. That is what the heck my point was.

rob t, I have to agree with you. In years to come, Baltimore County will become an extension of Baltimore City with all it problems. At one time, Baltimore City was a great place to live, look at it now. Even my sister, who lives in an affluent area of Canton, won't go out alone. Her car has been broken into 3 times, and stuff stolen out of her yard. Even her elderly neighbor was robbed and knocked down at 230pm! She is looking to move out of state when she retires.

My biggest concern is the gigantic dome that the gigantic socialist government has put over Perry Hall that does not allow anyone who does not like it to simply get up and leave.
Matt September 26, 2012 at 01:38 PM
How is Perry Hall in Baltimore??
FIFA September 26, 2012 at 08:07 PM
Gotta stop the buses from coming to Perry Hall.
Evets September 26, 2012 at 08:09 PM
Yes fewer buses and more busses...
Marty Warren September 26, 2012 at 08:39 PM
I actually tried running away from crime when I lived in Baltimore City. I quickly found out, running away doesn't solve anything. Sometimes you just have to stay and fight (Crime)

There is an ATM inside Walgreens.

What we need now is unity. Lets bring back that small town feel to the hall. The patch should organize a town meeting. Lets rebel against the scum that pollutes the place we call home. Something has to be done before it is to late.
Sassy September 27, 2012 at 06:02 PM
Having no money is not an excuse to rob people. If that were the case, I'd be a career criminal. There are some areas of Baltimore County that are very close to the city--especially with the addition of new roads and transit buses. Rosedale, Golden Ring, Parkville, and Carney are nothing but an extension of the city. Perry Hall, White Marsh, and Nottingham are nothing more than a hop, skip and a jump from the city. You may as well call Edgewood the inner city of Harford County. Thugs have been scattered throughout the county; higher crime rates are inevitable. There's no where to run unless you can afford to live with the super wealthy and live in a gated communities. God help us all.

Hey sassy,remember Hollander Ridge ?
Hummingbird September 30, 2012 at 11:20 AM
I wish the Judges would sentence these people with way tougher punishments. I also think they should chain these offenders together and have them clean up sides of roads, dig ditches and other unpleasant things. Maybe some of these people would think twice before they did this stuff.
Perry October 29, 2012 at 03:52 PM
Good description. HINT- When the race of the suspect is left out you can bet he was black. You see, its easier to pretend a problem doesn't exist than to face reality and speak the truth.
Jim Arrington December 05, 2012 at 05:51 PM
In a nut shell Perry.
