The couple was found after relatives from out of town and a neighbor asked police to check in on the couple.

Both had suffered traumatic wounds and were found inside their home.

A weapon was found in the home, according to a news release from Baltimore County police, but they're not saying what kind of weapon. However, police said later Tuesday that the homicides were not shootings.

At 4:01 p.m. Monday, police from the found Vaughn Pepper's body on the first floor of their home at 800 Olmstead Road. And they found Marjorie Pepper's body in the basement.

On Tuesday morning, neighbor Carrie Boyd said the crime that occurred across the street from her home is saddening.

"It's upsetting," she said. However, she said she's not afraid for her own safety, because police said there was no forced entry.

The neighborhood, with homes dating back to the 1700s, is walkable and safe, residents said.

Neighbors say they often saw Vaughn Pepper outside cutting the grass at his Sudbrook Park home, but some said they didn't see his wife often.

The Peppers were nice people who would wave "hello," they said.

The Peppers’ home was struck by a fallen tree during the July 1 derecho, a neighbor said. Since that storm, the family’s home has undergone renovations—from a new roof to converting the garage into a living space.

The Peppers were members of in Pikesville, another neighbor said.

I couldn't agree more. Besides HdeG has it's share of bad guys and crime-we don't need to 'import' the stuff from Baltimore.
