Safe Stolen Through Roof in Bill's Seafood Heist

Longtime Perry Hall business owner Bill Paulshock is offering a reward for information about the burglary.

The investigation into a burglary at Bill's Seafood in Perry Hall is ongoing, police said.

Between 10 p.m. on Dec. 16 and 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 17, in the 9000 block of Belair Road, someone pried open a roof vent and entered Bill's Seafood. A safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash was then stolen, according to Officer Mark Dorsey of the Parkville precinct.

Longtime Perry Hall business owner Bill Paulshock said he has already added increased security to the area, and police are reviewing video footage and property damage.

The incident hasn't changed positive his view of the community, he said.

"Do I think Perry Hall is getting any worse? No, I just think that when you're a small business owner, these things happen," Paulshock said.

"Most of my customers are my friends or have become friends, and nothing hurts worse to a person who works everyday to have something like this happen. It's tough to make a living, but we'll get through it. It's just so sad," he added.

Paulshock said he will personally offer a reward to anyone with information about the burglary. He urged them to call the business at 410-256-9520.

"Someone's got to know something about this. Not just for our business, but for the community, we want these individuals caught," he said.

Paulshock later added the following comment to the article:

I would like to thank the community for their concern and calls about this matter. It is very sad when these things happen in our home town. I do believe these individuals will eventfully be caught. Perry Hall is a great place to live and Perry Hall is the trade mark of small business people. As you travel BelAir Road it is still filled with many small businesses. Even in the heart of Perry Hall, as it has grown over the years, you still see small business: the animal hospital, pet store, carry outs, barber shops and beauty salons. There are many other small business that also service this community, all in their own special way. I believe this is just one of the things that makes Perry Hall so special and gives this community its “Home Town” feel. The feel that this community cares and is always willing to help is what truly makes Perry Hall special.

Thank you,

Bill Paulshock

I was going to vent over this crime, but I think I'll just clam up.
CR December 18, 2012 at 10:48 PM
Ok ok if we are starting this... I bet Bill sure was feeling crabby after he came to work this morning.
NottinghamFamily December 18, 2012 at 10:59 PM
I won't add to the pun discussion personally, I will just add that I am very sorry to hear this has happened to a longtime business in the community. Some people work very hard for what they have (like most of us) and then you have those who think they can criminally profit from it. I hope these individuals are caught and prosecuted. It makes me very sad to read so many crime reports in our community.
Honeygo Hal December 18, 2012 at 11:04 PM
Seriously, me too. But since no one was killed or injured and Bill seems to have taken it well I thought we could have a little fun with it. Catch the crooks and hang 'em high. I like Bill's and plan to continue buying from him.
RK December 19, 2012 at 12:17 AM
Sorry Bill, but Perry Hall is changing!
Tim December 19, 2012 at 01:10 AM
Wow, this is mission impossible type stuff. Crazy! Hope they catch the people responsible.
NottinghamFamily December 19, 2012 at 01:43 AM
I agree. I will continue to always buy from them as well. So grateful that no one was harmed. Hopefully, there is a good video somewhere and those involved will get caught. What's a shame is that the safe wasn't empty. That would have been the best revenge.
BobBaft December 19, 2012 at 03:07 AM
Yep. For the worse. And we all know the reason why.....
Al Carlson December 19, 2012 at 04:10 AM
Why, BobBaft? Why is it? Is it public transportation? Is it those pesky "animals" that come to Perry Hall from the city? Is it Obama's economy and his "tax hikes" and unemployment numbers? Or, bear with me here, or is it perhaps that this is not the 50's anymore and Richie, Potsie and the Fonz are not leaving their doors unlocked at night and suburbs across America naturally evolve with good and bad characteristics. Or are you just one of those guys with nothing else to do but hide behind your computer making cryptic remarks and blaming everything on everyone else? Most likely.
estelle lawson December 19, 2012 at 06:44 AM
Yes! Everywhere is changing. My son moved to carrol county , thinking the nice country roads would be crime. Free. Something negative happens there every week now. It's over development I think.
Sclaus December 19, 2012 at 12:16 PM
What did they use a crane ? safes aint light , and are usually anchored
Justin December 19, 2012 at 01:52 PM
For real how did they get the safe out? They didn't carry it back out through the roof unless they had a crane of some sort. Did they walk it out the front door once they got in? Prob only one real plausible answer.....Aliens

Al Carlson. WAKE UP!!! Yes times are changing, but we can't just allow these things to happen and use the changing times as an excuss. Someone did this to good people in our community and those victims are suffering. We need to be honest and look for the reason and the source of this increased violence where ever that might be.
Ph Patchmaster 2 December 19, 2012 at 02:37 PM
This type of crime sickens me. We need to dedicate more resources to protecting our community. Perry hall used to be a nice place to raise your family! People work hard for what they have- the culprits need to be caught and made an example of!
VWK December 19, 2012 at 02:40 PM
It seems to me that Perry Hall is becoming worse, but so are a lot of places. I think maybe it seems that way because we have the Perry Hall Patch keeping us informed and we just know about more things that are going on. Stuff like this never made the news. I'm so appreciative of the Patch so that I know what's happening around here and can take precautions to protect my home and family.
Tim December 19, 2012 at 02:41 PM
Yeah, Gary, but there's a gross generalization that's common in threads like this - and the truth is, it's incorrect more times then old right wingers want to believe. The only generalization that's true, is the moral degradation of society over the past 20-25 years. It's not a liberal or conservative problem. It's a societal one.
Tim December 19, 2012 at 02:43 PM
You are exactly right, VWK. This is the 24 hour news cycle we're all adapted to nationally, just local. Look I'm not a huge AOL or Huff Po fan, but everyone owes a small debt of gratitude for them finding this Patch initiative.
Al Carlson December 19, 2012 at 02:47 PM
Okay, then STEP UP and STATE THE REASON instead of cryptically stating "we all know what the reason is...." ...and while you are clarifying, provide your thoughts on the solution.
Jeanne December 19, 2012 at 02:50 PM
Well said NottinghamFamily.
dv93 December 19, 2012 at 04:15 PM
I agree with Justin. We need tomake a serious effort to stop alien criminalization in Perry Hall. Otherwise they'll lift a lot more than safes from buildings if you know what I mean.
Paul Amirault December 19, 2012 at 04:23 PM
As a neighbor and friend of Bill I will not stoop to making silly jokes as to how a jumbo shrimp got through the roof etc. That said, I would believe our BCPD will cross-check former employee lists of DeNiro's and Bill's Seafood for common names. Everyone might remember crooks cut through the block wall at the liquor store next to them to get in and empty the safe at DeNiro's.
Parkvillehoney December 19, 2012 at 05:25 PM
There has to be a cost effective security system that notifies the store owner, thru his cell phone, when some movement is on his premises. Video is great but I would spend the money to have a security system installed that signals me when any movement is detected at my business. A call to the police to check out the problem, I hope would catch the burglar in the act.

Don't forget the large amount of money stolen at the bar/ inn on Rt 7 last week too.
Grace B. December 19, 2012 at 06:01 PM
A big part of the problem is the growing sense of entitlement that a growing percentage of the population has. They had poor, or no, parenting. They didn't work hard enough to get a proper education, and just slipped through the cracks. Now, they don't want to work for what they want, and can't get a job that will pay enough to get what they want. They feel that if you have something they want, and they can get to it, they deserve it. I was brought up to believe that you earned the things that you wanted in life. Are there things that I would like to have, that I will never be able to afford? Certainly. Except for the insanely wealthy, I'm sure we all have things on our "wish lists." But, normal people, who were raised properly and took advantage of the education they were offered, know how to live within their means, work harder for things they want or need, or be content with their accomplishments. It would never occur to us to take from someone else. There are two different worlds out there, and the bottom feeders seem to be taking over.

Holy Mackeral! This Paulkshock famliy has alwasys treated me good ( and fair in business) they dont deserve this,,,,,,,,,, no one does who owns a business....... on one hand its material things and no one got hurt, this is true, but still they work hard for their money.. ..
K L B December 20, 2012 at 09:41 PM
I agree with you Grace and I sadly believe it will never get better because of the mentality of alot of people nowdays, If you can get it for free why work...
Rosemary Hesse December 21, 2012 at 10:02 PM
I think Grace B. hit the nail on the head. Not enough good moral standards for our youth to abide by and therefore grow up expecting the world owes them something. Not just small communities like Perry Hall but our entire nation has got to get back to the fundamentals that made America the greatest place in the world to live.Teach our children to be proud upstanding and law abiding citizens.
K L B December 21, 2012 at 11:33 PM
You are so right Rosemary but I fear this new generation just doesn't care for the most part, used to be good kids and a few bad now it's bad kids and a few good !!
