Aug. 6-9: White Marsh Express Toll Lanes Closures

Traffic detours are expected next week on Interstate 695 at Interstate 95.

Overnight closures and detours are coming to White Marsh next week, as part of the ongoing

From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., each day between Aug. 6 and Aug. 9, "all lanes of eastbound Interstate 695 (INNER LOOP) at Interstate 95 (Exit 33) will be completely closed," according to a Maryland Transportation Authority press release.

"Traffic will be detoured off Exit 33 to northbound I-95, to westbound MD 43 (Exit 67B, White Marsh Boulevard), to southbound I-95, to eastbound I-695 (Exit 64)," the release showed.

When complete, the project will allow drivers to use express lanes on I-95 by paying a toll or travel on existing lanes at no additional cost.

The White Marsh portion of the project carries a $142.6 million price tag and is expected to create 400 new jobs. The total project, which stretches from north of White Marsh along I-95 to south of the Interstate 895/Moravia Road interchange, will cost $1.03 billion and is expected to be finished by 2014, according to the transportation authority.

Real-time traffic camera images of state roadways are available at mdta.maryland.gov. Travel information is also available by calling 511 or visiting md511.org.

How do you expect the finished project to impact White Marsh traffic? Tell us in the comments.

White Marsh Blvd. (43) will be a mess at rush hour - moreso in the evening.
The mess will fan out in both directions and probably make Honeygo Blvd. a parking lot near MD 43.

The two new intersections that have been created with two new traffic lights on Rte 43 must have been invented by the Spaghetti Monster. I am not a traffic engineer, but eliminating merge lanes and replacing them with traffic lights on Route 43 sounds like backed up lanes onto I-95 and Route 43. These intersections are not temporary based on the photos in the above article.

I am really upset about all of the trees they are cutting down for this project that dont really need to happen. I hope they are planning on replanting. However, from the "future" images it doesnt seem that tree planting is a priority. I live by white marsh blvd and they are completely ruining what used to be a pretty drive. My message to the people who are in charge of this: Re plant the trees you are destroying.

Honeygo is already a parking lot during rush hour. :(

Paul,
I think the locations are permanent, but hopefully the final configuration will include at least 2 lanes to accomodate more cars before they back up onto 95. I also think there will be an additonal set of lights for the traffic exiting the toll lanes at 43. They will come up a straight ramp and exit onto 43 at the center of the bridge. If memory serves, the exits at 43 were not part of the original plan. The original plan had exits from the toll lanes onto 695, and no more exits until north of 43. That configuration was deemed too expensive when the recession hit, and the 695 ramps were dropped. The ramps in that plan really looked like a bag of snakes, and I'm not surprised they were dropped. But now, the MD 43 exits will take all of the traffic that wants to get off before 152. Suffice it to say I will likely be using the 'back routes' and the 'old way' to get around during rush hour.

My sister-in-law actually played with my nephew too Tim. Unlike EVERY OTHER single parent that wasRead More there. However, you can't tie your child to you. They came there to play. Bullies move very quick. When my nephew fell and was visibily scared, not a single parent except for one even noticed. Nobody from the library was in site. You are right that if parents were required to pay attention to their children then there would not be an opportunities for bullies because the parents of those bullies would be watching them also. When the group came from a religious school in Pikesville this is exactly what happened. All the parents stayed with their kids. All other parents, with little exception stayed in a waiting room talking amongst themselves paying little attention to their children. My nephew has been to all kinds of playgrounds and never been attacked by older kids before. Next time, if my nephew is attacked by an older child I will urge my brother to call the police and press charges against the parent. However, irreponsible Storyville need not worry -- won't be back there. Just wish our tax dollars weren't supporting this.

Let me put this in more practical terms. 1. My sister-in-law suggests that the bully seemed about 8Read More years old and probably shouldn't have been left at Storyville to begin with. There is no ID system at Storyville for childs age. 2. The bully caused various kinds of mayhem. Knocking down things, shouting, etc. No one from the library is actually in Storyville so there was no disciplinary action taken such as removing the child. 3. Parents should not view Storyville as a babysitter and not be allowed to congregate in the waiting area, leaving their children to play alone. 4. Items that could be used to cause serious injury should be removed from Storyville. 5. Cameras. If an 8 year old hits a 3 year old at Storyville where parents are suppose to be watching their children, I want proof for a court case. Yes, it's a shame it can't just be a pleasant place to take your kids but it isn't. It is filled with unrully children and uninterested parents. A child SHOULD NEVER leave a library with two bruises across his face EVER.

Sounds like your sister in law needs to grow a brain. If an 8 year old is running around like aRead More maniac, grab your child and GO FIND an employee to wage a complaint and get the kid booted. My daughter is 6 and went a couple weeks ago and was not permitted beyond the gate with the other kids in the group. Just because some ghetto monkey jumped the fence one day, don't give this place a black eye for it.
