Sept. 23-24: White Marsh Express Toll Lanes Closure

A traffic detour is expected Sunday night on White Marsh Boulevard.

Roadwork as part of the I-95 Express Toll Lanes project is expected to close a ramp Sunday night into Monday morning.

According to a Maryland Transportation Authority alert released Thursday afternoon:

Sunday, Sept. 23, and Monday, Sept. 24, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the ramp from eastbound MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) to southbound I-95 will be temporarily closed for night work. Traffic will be detoured to northbound I-95, to westbound MD 43 (Exit 67B, White Marsh Boulevard), to southbound I-95.

The White Marsh portion of the project carries a $142.6 million price tag and is expected to create 400 new jobs. The total project, which stretches from north of White Marsh along I-95 to south of the Interstate 895/Moravia Road interchange, will cost $1.03 billion and is expected to be finished by 2014, according to the transportation authority.

Real-time traffic camera images of state roadways are available atmdta.maryland.gov. Travel information is also available by calling 511 or visiting md511.org.

Has the ongoing project impacted your commute? How would your rate contractors' work so far? Tell us in the comments.

By the time this job is finished gasoline will be so expensive and the economy so flat there will be no one to use it,and the citizens will still have to pay for it. Just annother idiotic program from the morons at the Dep. of Highways

Since I am not rich nor one of the elite who will be able to afford this special lane just for them, I will be relieved to see this monstrosity come to completion so the rest of us can go back to sitting in horrendous rush hour traffic.

Moan, complain, moan, complain, moan, complain. You people are the worst. This article is a public service, not an invitation for your stream of consciousness negativity. Add that to the fact that you have no understanding of the scope or reason for the project and the source of funding and you just look like fools.

I still can't figure out how it will work. Will every exit have a toll booth? Or will it be like EZ Pass?
I'm for anything that will aleviate some of the traffic backups in and around the White Marsh mall area. Do any of these new configurations address that?

Al, I do not look like nor feel like a fool. This project, designed to "alleviate rush hour traffic" allows people to pay a toll based on the time of day and intensity of traffic. The tolls that were mentioned in very early articles would be a hardship for many people, topping $3 per day in order to take advantage of the toll lanes and lesser traffic. It is a project that will benefit the elite and has nothing for everyday folk trying to get back and forth to their jobs. It separates people by their ability to pay for a faster ride home. Most people will have to sit in the heavier traffic. Whether or not you consider the story to be solely for the purpose of "public service" or not, I understand the scope/reason/source of funding for the project and I feel I have every right to comment in any manner I deem appropriate to my feelings. Your taking the time to complain about my complaining is hilarious.

I used to use 95 a lot but don't like to use it with all the constuction and the larger tolls for the tunnels. There used to be a large space betwwen 95 and White Marsh but now there is very little space making it louder and ( I hope it never happens) if there is a bad accident a good possibility of someone being hurt walking to their car on a parking lot. I think this several years of "changing" 95 has been a waste of time and money. I'm glad the people that have done the work so far have a job but there are roads that need repair they could be working on.

My sister-in-law actually played with my nephew too Tim. Unlike EVERY OTHER single parent that wasRead More there. However, you can't tie your child to you. They came there to play. Bullies move very quick. When my nephew fell and was visibily scared, not a single parent except for one even noticed. Nobody from the library was in site. You are right that if parents were required to pay attention to their children then there would not be an opportunities for bullies because the parents of those bullies would be watching them also. When the group came from a religious school in Pikesville this is exactly what happened. All the parents stayed with their kids. All other parents, with little exception stayed in a waiting room talking amongst themselves paying little attention to their children. My nephew has been to all kinds of playgrounds and never been attacked by older kids before. Next time, if my nephew is attacked by an older child I will urge my brother to call the police and press charges against the parent. However, irreponsible Storyville need not worry -- won't be back there. Just wish our tax dollars weren't supporting this.

Let me put this in more practical terms. 1. My sister-in-law suggests that the bully seemed about 8Read More years old and probably shouldn't have been left at Storyville to begin with. There is no ID system at Storyville for childs age. 2. The bully caused various kinds of mayhem. Knocking down things, shouting, etc. No one from the library is actually in Storyville so there was no disciplinary action taken such as removing the child. 3. Parents should not view Storyville as a babysitter and not be allowed to congregate in the waiting area, leaving their children to play alone. 4. Items that could be used to cause serious injury should be removed from Storyville. 5. Cameras. If an 8 year old hits a 3 year old at Storyville where parents are suppose to be watching their children, I want proof for a court case. Yes, it's a shame it can't just be a pleasant place to take your kids but it isn't. It is filled with unrully children and uninterested parents. A child SHOULD NEVER leave a library with two bruises across his face EVER.

Sounds like your sister in law needs to grow a brain. If an 8 year old is running around like aRead More maniac, grab your child and GO FIND an employee to wage a complaint and get the kid booted. My daughter is 6 and went a couple weeks ago and was not permitted beyond the gate with the other kids in the group. Just because some ghetto monkey jumped the fence one day, don't give this place a black eye for it.
