Have you seen people zooming through the school zone on Honeygo Boulevard?

Not for long, if the Baltimore County Police Department has anything to say about it.

The department is in the process of installing speed cameras at four locations, including Joppa View Elementary.

The cameras will be operational "in the near future," Baltimore County police said on Feb. 3.

The following schools are getting cameras:

Once the cameras are in place, drivers will have a 30-day warning period; then citations will go into effect.

Drivers are in violation if they are going at least 12 mph over the posted speed limit, according to police.

The cameras will operate Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., including during the summer months and on weekdays when school is not in session, police said.

Will Joppa View Elementary benefit from a speed camera? Tell us in the comments!

It wont help stop the speeding. Thats because it is now an extension of I95. They will make a fortune here. And, which limit will they use, as it changes during the day from 45 to 30 in the morning and afternoon.

Once the drivers pass Joppa View Elementary and the speed camera, they will drive well above the posted speed limit of 40MPH. It would be nice if a stop sign, circle, or traffic light was installed at the Cross Road and Honeygo Blvd intersection to slow down the traffic.
