Perry Hall Elementary Wins Big at Orioles Contest

Every student will win free admission to a Baltimore Orioles game this spring.

Orioles magic captured Perry Hall Elementary School last week, and it paid off.

From among more than 30 Maryland schools, Perry Hall earned second place in the team-sponsored "Go Orange" Challenge, the official Orioles website announced. St. Philip Neri School in Linthicum gained first, and Halstead Academy of Science and the Arts in Parkville took third.

Participants decorated the inside and outside of schools "with an Orioles look" and dressed in orange and Orioles gear. Each school submitted a photo and summary to the team, according to the website.

The website features a photo of Perry Hall here.

The Oriole Bird is expected to visit the school in celebration of second place, and in April 2013, the entire student body will receive free tickets to a home game.

Not all kids are fans of the Orioles or Ravens. If i want my child to win a ticket i would just buy the 12 dollar ticket as i would rather send my student to school to learn and not paint there face or die there hair orange. Starting them at an early age not good. Lets just see which one can bring the most guns to school next. They need to bring back school uniforms and ban team logos in school. If they can ban Jesus they should ban team logos. Again thank God i took my child out of public elementary.

I feel the same way, although I don't have the opportunity to get my children out of the public school system right now. I do not allow my children to participate in the fan activities unless they ask me. My friend's family are Steeler's fans and their children are ridiculed and taunted because of it and it's not "friendly rivalry" stuff either. They are called "traitors to their home town" and other ridiculous things and they are in elementary school. So, no thanks on the whole team spirit thing.
