Football was definitely in the air Friday. Beautiful clear, crisp fall evening, highlighted with a shooting star across the sky. Eastern Tech was no pushover, they kept Perry Hall out of the end zone the first quarter, yet the Gators kept them to only a field goal. It took Eastern scoring in the second quarter to waken our Gators. Down the field they marched. First Jeremiah Johnson scored on a 35 yard run. On next possession they ran and threw their way down the field with Chris Ricker bulldozing in for quarterback keeper to score. Halftime Gators were up 14 to 9.
Third quarter was a drawn out dogfight, back and forth the scores went. John Myers scored on a 45 yard run. Next up was a 5 yard run by Eric Latham into the end zone, followed by Jeff Iweh on a 2 point conversion. Finishing up the third quarter was a short pass to Jeremiah Johnson who ducked and evaded his pursuers on a 45 yard touchdown. Fourth quarter was Gators turn to hold Eastern scoreless. Eastern did their best to hold the Gators out of the end zone, but Eric Latham would not be denied.
Defensively this week it was the defense ends and linebackers that were the strength. With outstanding plays made by John Myers, Ben Vargas, Nick Davis, Zach Booker, Josh Blake, Patrick Whitty, Dominic Fales and Dominic Wilson.
