Hoping to work off those extra Thanksgiving pounds before the Christmas binge?

You might consider running the Gator Holiday Classic 5K this Sunday.

Perry Hall High School's Parent-Teacher-Student Association, in partnership with Running Maryland, is sponsoring the event, scheduled for 9 a.m. on Dec. 9 at Perry Hall High School, located at 4601 Ebenezer Rd.

The course runs from the school on Ebenezer Road to Honeygo Boulevard to Joppa Road, turns around at Joppa Road and returns to the school. The PTSA has planned food, giveaways and random prize drawings after the race.

Proceeds will benefit multiple events, scholarships, after-prom events, teacher grants, and appreciation activities sponsored by the PTSA. Running Maryland will also donate a portion of their proceeds to The Daniel Borowy Irrevocable Trust.

Online registration is available on the Running Maryland website, and at the event on Dec. 9.

Dates and costs are as follows:

  • $35 before Dec. 8
  • $40 on Dec. 9
  • $20 before Dec. 8 for Perry Hall High School students and faculty
  • $30 on Dec. 9 for Perry Hall High School students and faculty
  • $10 for "sleepwalkers" who are donating only

A Great Big Thank You to Running Maryland and Perry Hall PTSA. They did an absolutely fantastic job setting up this run. A big thank you to those companies that sponsered and supplied all the fantastic goodies in the cafeteria before and after the race.I know without them alot of it would not have been possible. So please support those local companies that support your high school.
