Baltimore Blast defender and captain Mike Lookingland has re-signed with the team.
Lookingland, a Fallston native and Perry Hall resident, was the league's Defender of the Year in 2013. He's the longest-tenured member of the club, having won four Major Indoor Soccer League championships in his eight seasons with the Blast.
"Having our captain and reigning defensive player of the year return is huge for our team going into what I expect to be a very challenging season," Blast Coach Danny Kelly said. "His leadership as well as his ability on both sides of the ball is everything we need in trying to repeat as MISL champions."
Lookingland, 30, started all 26 games in 2012-2013, as the Blast won the MISL title.
He was also named to the league's first-team for the second straight season.
The defender is a Loyola-Blakefield graduate who played collegiately at Bucknell University.
He's also an assistant coach with the Baltimore Bohemians and manages a program that introduces soccer to young children.
The team will hold open tryouts from 2-5 p.m. on Oct. 19, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 20 at the Southeast Regional Recreation Center in Baltimore. The cost is $100, and an application form can be found here.
