Burglaries and petty thefts tend to spike in late spring, early summer, according to Lt. Ron Brooks, of the White Marsh Police Precinct. Three incidents in the Perry Hall area last week should serve as a reminder to residents to mindful of their valuables this time of year—a time when homeowners unlock the shed for yard work and/or landscaping. "Tougher targets won't be selected [by burglars]," Brooks said. Criminals took advantage of valuables left outside in one incident and an unlocked garage and window. A Bel Air man has been arrested for stealing more than $7,000 worth of electronics from a Perry Hall woman, according to police. Daniel Kareem Mufarreh, 31, was charged with burglary, theft (between $1,000 and $10,000) and making a false statement to a police officer, online court records show. Mufarreh, of the 1200 block of Greystone Road in Bel Air, is described as the suspect in a police investigation in which a burglar walked through the front door of a home in the unit block of Trailwood Road. The report says that on April 16, the homeowner caught Mufarreh in the act and reported the incident two days later. Police believe a juvenile or group of juveniles may have used a homeowner's hot tub without permission.
Nothing was missing or damaged, but a homeowner was left cleaning up the mess after a hot tub was used without permission. Between 3 p.m. on April 12 and 2:30 p.m. on April 15, a person or group of people entered the backyard of a home on the 9600 block of Westcott Way in Perry Hall and used the hot tub. At least one alcohol container was also left in the area, according to a police report. Police believe a juvenile or groups of juveniles may have been involved in the incident, which is being investigated as a fourth-degree burglary, according to Officer Mark Dorsey of the Parkville police precinct. A helicopter and K-9 unit responded to a burglary shortly after 7 p.m. on Jan. 10, police said.
Police, aided by a helicopter and K-9 unit, swarmed a Perry Hall neighborhood near Joppa and Silver Spring roads Tuesday evening after a reported burglary, police said. Shortly after 7 p.m., a homeowner on the unit block of Spring Creek Way reported that three juveniles had attempted to cut open a side window screen, according to Officer Mark Dorsey of the Parkville police precinct. There was no entry and nothing was taken, Dorsey said. A police helicopter and dogs assisted with the search for suspects, but no one was found or arrested, he said. Perry Hall Powderview Court, unit block, 4:49 a.m. on Jan. 4. A homeowner heard a noise before her home's burglary alarm went off. A glass panel in the home's front window was broken, but no entry was made and nothing was taken. Perry Hall Road, 3700 block, between 10 p.m. on Dec. 30 and 12:43 p.m. on Jan. 1. A front door frame to a vacant home was broken, several holes were kicked into the interior drywall and windows were broken, causing about $2,500 in damage. The home was unoccupied because it was in the process of being sold.

Perry Hall Bally Mahon Court, 9800 block, between 5 p.m. Dec. 13 and 7 a.m. on Dec. 14. About 50 feet of copper wire, valued at about $200, was removed from a home under construction in a Keelty Homes development. Gunforge Road, 9800 block, between 1 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 14. A stereo, laptop, cash and jewelry, valued at about $5,500 were stolen. A side door was forced open and the house was ransacked. Kingsville Connection Road, 7000 block, between 12:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 12. A door frame was destroyed and several pieces of jewelry were stolen from a home, a total loss of about $13,860. Two jewelry burglaries were reported within a half mile of each other on Tuesday, according to police reports. Investigators believe they may be connected, said Lt. David Naimaster of the White Marsh precinct. Blakely Avenue, 4400 block, 8:30 a.m.-6:28 p.m. on Dec. 6. Two watches were stolen during a break-in that left the rear glass door of the home shattered, according to a police report. Perryvale Road, 9000 block, 1:45-3:05 p.m. on Dec. 6. A rear glass door to a home was shattered. About $200 in cash and $2,550 worth of jewelry were stolen, including gold, diamonds and gem stones, a police report shows.
