UMBC's Caringi Wins ECAC Honor

Caringi gets another award, as does Liam Paddock

UMBC's Pete Caringi III (Perry Hall/Calvert Hall) earned the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division I Offensive Player of the Year honors for soccer, the conference announced Thursday. The honors were from UMBC and ECAC, according to a news release. Caringi is the second UMBC player to win this award in the past four years. Levi Houapeu also won this honor three years ago, it states. This season, Caringi was named Striker of the Year in the America East. Field Hockey Player, Saved by Coaches' CPR, To Be Honored

For several minutes until paramedics arrived, Catonsville junior varsity coach Christine Ehrlichman and Perry Hall varsity coach Chastin Faith, as well as three parents attending the game, performed CPR on Breanna. She was revived by paramedics, transported to the hospital and weeks later received heart surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center. "The credit definitely lies with the coaches…

The Baltimore County community can fill out an online form or attend a community forum.

The Baltimore County Board of Education wants to know what qualities you think the new superintendent of schools should have. Current Schools Superintendent Joe A. Hairston is retiring at the end of the school year. The school board hired search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to assist with the national search. The firm will help with collecting input from the community at public meetings and online. The school board is asking for input from the community on specific characteristics when looking for the new head of the nation's 26th largest school district. Community members can complete this form online or attend one of three community forums attended by representatives from the search firm. They will be: Starting in late February…

FYI - I am one of the members of the SW Area Educational Advisory Council, and I do not work. For pay, anyhow. I will be attending this 1 pm meeting, as will at least one other member of our Council. The community meetings are scheduled for the evenings, so hopefully many will be able to attend. If you are unable to go to one of these, you can contact your area's council to relay concerns or …   more ›
