White Marsh Mall 'Canstructions' On Display for a Cause [Pictures]

The eye-catching projects are meant to also draw attention to statewide hunger issues.

The cans featured in the attached photos will be off to the Maryland Food Bank in June. The eye-catching artwork, currently on display at the White Marsh Mall between now and June 8, is meant to draw attention to the fight against hunger in the state. In Maryland, over 516,000 people live below the poverty line, 150,000 of which are children," according to a release. "Canstruction brings attention to hunger, while showcasing the Baltimore design community’s best and brightest. Too Young to Vote, Girl Scouts Hit Poll With Cookies

Election Day is filled with important decisions. For some, that includes deciding between Samoas, Thin Mints and Do-Si-Dos—of course, unlike voting, Girl Scouts hope you'll choose every flavor.  A Girl Scout troop based at St. Joseph Parish in Fullerton set up shop outside the Perry Hall Elementary School poll on Tuesday, hoping to gain sales from the more than 850 voters who visited the poll before noon.  Rick Ross was one of the voters turned cookie customers.  "You like to sell them and I like to eat them. I don't think you're peddling any political ideas," Ross said. "I think it's a good idea."  Scouts Sarah Shellhorn and Elizabeth Lelonek, both 16, said sales were steady. Perry Hall Girl Scouts Donate 72 Christmas Stockings

Stockings were donated to the Salvation Army to be distributed to children in need.

A group of Perry Hall Girl Scouts is hoping their legacy of Christmas service will continue, even after they graduate from high school. For the past five years, members of Girl Scout Troop 1667 have donated stockings to the Salvation Army. Filled with toys and candy, the stockings will be distributed to children in need through a sister project of the annual Giving Tree program, according to troop leader Donna Gawryck. What started with 12 stockings during a merit badge project has expanded to 72 stockings. But as all of the troop members are now seniors in high school, this is their last year in the organization, according to Gawryck. "All the scouts have plans to attend college in the fall of 2012, but they want the program to continue. …
