Firefighters Quell Basement Fire in Kingsville

One person was evaluated for smoke inhalation.

Baltimore and Harford County firefighters quelled a one-alarm blaze near the intersection of Belair and Mt. Vista roads Thursday afternoon. Medics evaluated at least one person at the scene for smoke inhalation, according to Baltimore County police and fire spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher. No other possible injuries were reported.   The cause of the fire is still under investigation, although it appears to have started in the basement, Rogers-Feher said. Three police cruisers blocked off the entrance of Mt. Vista Road from Belair Road from noon to at least 1:15 p.m., Patch observed. The call for fire and EMS support in the 7100 block of Mt. Man Dead, Firefighters Injured in Baldwin Fire

About 80 firefighters from 20 units responded late Wednesday to the 5600 block of Sweet Air Road in the Jacksonville area.

UPDATE (Dec. 6, 10:32 a.m.)—A man died and firefighters were injured as emergency crews battled a heavy fire early Thursday at a home in the Baldwin and Jacksonville area.  The Baltimore County Fire Department, in a news release, identified the victim as 62-year-old William Spencer.  Around midnight, about 80 firefighters from 20 units in Baltimore and Harford counties responded to the fire in the 5600 block of Sweet Air Road, according to the release. Firefighters were forced to evacuate the two-alarm fire due to the conditions. Two firefighters were injured—one was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center, the other to the burn center at Johns Hopkins Bayview. Vacant Kingsville Factory's 'Historic' Protection Stifling Firefighting, Demolition

Firefighters continued to fight the blaze that is being investigated as arson.

UPDATE (Sept. 11, 3:36 p.m.)—A vacant factory in a historic Kingsville neighborhood caught fire on Monday afternoon—but firefighters continued to battle rekindled flames that night and into Tuesday morning and afternoon, Baltimore County fire officials announced. According to fire department spokesman Lt. Paul Massarelli, the former Belko factory, near the corner of Jericho Road and Woodberry Place in the Franklinville neighborhood, has not yet been dismantled or demolished because of its historic designation. At about 3:35 p.m. on Sept. 10, heavy smoke began billowing from the structure. Within an hour, around 10 engines from Baltimore and Harford County responded. Vacant Factory Fire Threatens Kingsville Neighborhood, Arson Suspected
