POLL: Who Will Win Maryland's GOP Presidential Primary?

Maryland's Republican "moderate middle" will matter on Tuesday.

Will former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s lead in Maryland turn into a win in Tuesday’s GOP presidential primary? Romney has a 17-point advantage over former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in Maryland, according to a poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports on Wednesday. It showed Romney is supported by 45 percent of Maryland Republicans, Santorum by 28 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich by 12 percent and Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, by 7 percent. Even though officials aren’t predicting a high turnout in Maryland on Tuesday, it is expected to be an important day in the presidential race, when the “moderate middle of the Maryland GOP will be relevant,” according to The Washington Post. “There are more of us in this state than in others, …

Update: Capacity Crowd Greets Romney in Arbutus

"It's an honor" to have Mitt Romney in Arbutus, a resident says.

Updated at 5:45 p.m. to add quotes, description, background Mitt Romney made his sole visit to Maryland on Wednesday in advance of the state's April 3 GOP primary, telling a capacity crowd at a town hall meeting in Arbutus that President Obama is clueless about how to fix the economy. The leading Republican candidate, dressed in an open-collar shirt and jeans, greeted an overflow crowd of several hundred people who waited outside Dewey Lowman American Legion Post 109, then spoke and answered questions from a friendly crowd inside. Obama's poll numbers are hurting because "Americans are hurting," Romney said, to cheers. "Let's make sure that come Election Day, he is out of a job." I am with you JH. The problem is anyone who tries to talk straight with the people about our problems has no chance. Americans are so used to living the good life off borrowed money will not stand for any cuts in benefits.
