UPDATE: Housing Developer Closing Cross Road 3 Weeks

The Perry Hall road will close Jan. 23 to Feb. 15 for utility construction on the Reserve at Camp Chapel housing development.

Cross Road, between Honeygo Boulevard and Chapel Road, will close Jan. 23 to Feb. 15 for utility construction on the Reserve at Camp Chapel housing development, County Councilman David Marks announced.  Local traffic will be allowed. Baltimore County Public Schools have also been notified and will alert parents to any bus changes, Marks stated in an email.  The developer will also complete some improvements to Cross Road, including widening and repaving, during this time, Marks added.  While the Reserve at Camp Chapel housing development gained approval about four years ago, construction was held until this winter due to the struggling economy, Patch reported.  A representative of developer D.R. PHOTOS: 39-Home Chapel Road Development Eyeing Spring Completion

Developers have broken ground on 39 new Perry Hall homes at the corner of Chapel Road and Cross Road.

Dirt, downed trees and construction equipment fill an 18-acre lot planned to hold 39 single-family homes at Chapel Road and Cross Road.  While the Reserve at Camp Chapel housing development gained approval about four years ago, construction was held until this winter due to the struggling economy, Patch reported.  A representative of developer D.R. Horton said construction of homes will likely begin in January, and that the development should be completed by the spring.  The planned neighborhood is named after a former horse farm and the historic Camp Chapel United Methodist Church nearby. Projected new residents will add approximately nine students to Gunpowder Elementary School, six students to Perry Hall Middle School and seven students…

UPDATE: 39-Home Chapel Road Development Breaking Ground 'Shortly'

Developers are expected to break ground on 39 new Perry Hall homes at the corner of Chapel Road and Cross Road.

After years of waiting on the economy to improve, the planned Reserve at Camp Chapel housing development in Perry Hall is expected to break ground. The 18-acre lot will hold 39 single-family homes, with access points to the neighborhood on Chapel Road and Cross Road, according to a document from the developer provided to Patch by the Baltimore County Department of Planning. The development is named after the historic Camp Chapel United Methodist Church nearby. Projected new residents will add approximately nine students to Gunpowder Elementary School, six students to Perry Hall Middle School and seven students to Perry Hall High School, according to a Baltimore County school impact analysis document dated July 19, 2006, provided to Patch …

YOU TELL US: What's So Bad About New Perry Hall Homes?

Patch readers have differing views on the impact of development in Perry Hall neighborhoods.

It started with a blog post by Paul Amirault about public hearings for a new housing development planned next to the Perry Hall Library. It's turned into a debate over planning, crowding and construction in the larger community. While communities across America have spent the last five years struggling through foreclosure and housing crises, homebuilding in Perry Hall has barely skipped a beat. In general, developments generate tax revenue and new homeowners stimulate the local economy. Of course, not everyone is pleased. Complaints range from school overcrowding to traffic issues.
