The coming of a new year is a chance to reflect on the trials and triumphs of the past year, and look to the future. In 2013, Baltimore-area Patch editors have a variety of goals, from weight loss to wedding planning to spending more time with family and friends. How does a family with small children ring in the new year?
It's been a while since I've partied hard on New Year's Eve—well, at least four years or so. Gone are the late night parties at bars open until the last man leaves. In fact, I am now happy if I actually make it to midnight! This year, I very happily celebrated the arrival of 2011 with my favorite little people. For days now, I've been trying to explain to my oldest boy that 2010 was about to end and it would soon be 2011—answering all of his questions and telling stories of when I was a kid and our traditions. I also explained that there is a big party in New York City, where a ball drops to ring in the new year. And on New Year's Eve morning, I reiterated that tomorrow it would be next year!
