Q&A: PHIA President Talks Perry Hall's Strengths, Challenges

Dennis M. Robinson, Jr. became president of the Perry Hall Improvement Association in 2010.

Approaching his third year as president of the Perry Hall Improvement Association, Dennis M. Robinson, Jr. has a hard time visiting local businesses without seeing a familiar face.  "It's an inside joke between me and my son. We're in the car and he says, 'OK, Dad, who are we going to see? You know it's going to be somebody.' It's a game when we're walking around the grocery store. Almost inevitably, we see someone we know around Perry Hall," Robinson said. Robinson, a married 37-year-old father of two, has lived in Perry Hall since 2004. PHIA Meeting: Marks Talks Development, Open Space

The first Perry Hall Improvement Asociation meeting of 2013 hosted County Councilman David Marks.

The following updates were recorded during the Perry Hall Improvement Asociation meeting, starting at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 in the Perry Hall Library. Technical difficulties prevented the notes from being published in real time. 7:30 p.m. PHIA president Dennis Robinson opened the meeting, announced that there will be no meeting on Valentine's Day in February.  He also introduced Buddy Butt in attendance, over 90 years old, the unofficial mayor of Perry Hall. 7:34 p.m. County Councilman David Marks took the stand. He spoke about his former post as president of the PHIA for nearly 10 years.  He talked about the differences between Towson and Perry Hall, both in his district. Towson is more urban and dealing with issues like bail bondsman. …

Jan. 10: Perry Hall Improvement Association Hosting Councilman Marks

The PHIA will hold its first meeting of 2013 in the Perry Hall Library on Thursday.

After a break for the holidays, the Perry Hall Improvement Association's monthly meetings return this Thursday at the Perry Hall Library.  Starting at 7:30 p.m., County Councilman David Marks is scheduled to address community members on issues facing Perry Hall and Baltimore County. Attendees may also ask questions.  All local residents and members of the business community are welcome to attend.

LIVE BLOG: Police Talk Public Safety at Perry Hall Improvement Association Meeting

The PHIA featured public safety information Thursday evening at the Perry Hall Library.

Due to technical difficulties, Patch was unable to load live updates during the meeting. Meeting notes were loaded shortly after 9 p.m. 7:30 p.m. PHIA president Dennis M. Robinson, Jr. was unable to attend the meeting because he was out of town. Community volunteer and White Marsh firefighter and PHIA official Jack Amrhein conducted the meeting.  County Councilman David Marks spoke.  Diane Brazil was recognized by Marks with a resolution, as a departing member of PHIA leadership. Marks introduced her as a dear friend.  He also recognized other departing PHIA leadership, Bill Libercci, Elmer Klein and Robert Mowry.  Marks also introduced members of the dog park committee, and presented a $5,000 donation from a local developer who is …

LIVE BLOG: Rep. Andy Harris Talks Taxes, Debt at Perry Hall Library

The Perry Hall Improvement Association is featuring guest speaker Congressman Andy Harris Thursday night.

7:35 p.m. Rep. Andy Harris said he has represented Perry Hall for the past 10 years, first as a state representative, the last two years as a congressman. Harris spoke about "sequestration" related to the defense cuts that could impact Aberdeen Proving Ground. He said that 10 percent cuts to defense is bad business and that it should be done "surgically." He said that as of Jan. 1, that cut will go through. He said he thinks that layoff notices may go out in November. Harris said he hopes to go back into session and delay those cuts. "We have to do something about the economy and jobs in general ... we are just limping along." LIVE BLOG: Comptroller Peter Franchot Talks Fiscal Disipline at PHIA Meeting

The Perry Hall Improvement Association is back from summer recess.

Updates were recorded live during the meeting. 7:35 p.m. The PHIA honored former Perry Hall manager Darcy Cahill. "A lot of people can come in here and manage the library effectively and just go home, but Darcy did much more. She truly became a community leader ... You can take the library manager out of Perry Hall but you can't take the Perry Hall out of her," Dennis M. Robinson, Jr., president of the Perry Hall Improvement Association, said. The Perry Hall Improvement Association hosted a meeting with Donnell Zeigler of the Baltimore County Office of Planning on April 12 at the Perry Hall Library. He provided information about proposed zoning changes in Perry Hall in connection with the 2012 Comprehensive Zoning Map Process. If you've ever wondered why some areas of Perry Hall gets housing developments, some get parks and some get shopping centers, consider attending this month's Perry Hall Improvement Association meeting. The PHIA is scheduled to host Donnell Zeigler of the Baltimore County Office of Planning at 7:30 p.m. on April 12 at the Perry Hall Library. He is expected provide information about proposed zoning changes in Perry Hall in connection with the 2012 Comprehensive Zoning Map Process.
