Mission BBQ to Serve Veterans, Donate to Wounded Warrior Project

The Perry Hall barbecue restaurant will be honoring active and retired military members for National Armed Forces Day.

It doesn’t get much more All-American than Perry Hall’s own Mission BBQ. The mission, as owners Steve Newton and Bill Kraus say, is to give back to military service members. This weekend, Mission BBQ will continue its legacy of giving back to those who serve by attempting to raise $20,000 for the Wounded Warriors Project in honor of National Armed Forces Day. >>> Write a review of Mission BBQ “We are honored to give back to those who serve our country,” said Mission BBQ co-owners Steve Newton and Bill Kraus in a statement. “These men and women fight for our freedom every single day, and Armed Forces Day is the perfect opportunity for us to honor and celebrate them.” The barbecue restaurant, which also has a location in Glen Burnie, donated…

The authentic Mexican cuisine restaurant opened Tuesday in Perry Hall after relocating from the White Marsh Mall.

So we decided this was the best move now.” In his new expanded sit-down space, Albarran-Torres smiled excitedly, finally able stretch his culinary creativity.  “I get the space that I want. I …

Q&A: Mission BBQ Co-Founder Talks Perry Hall

The restaurant held its grand opening Monday and benefits the Wounded Warriors project.

Serving up sauce-slathered smokey meats and sides, Mission BBQ opened its second location in Perry Hall on Saturday. Its grand opening celebration was held Monday afternoon. Former Under Armour executive Bill Kraus and former Outback Steakhouse executive Steve Newton founded the first Mission BBQ in Glen Burnie on Sept. 11, 2011—the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Gaining immediate popularity, Baltimore Magazine named it the best barbecue in Baltimore. Patch recently spoke with Newton about the restaurant's future and philosophy.  Patch: Why bring Mission BBQ to Perry Hall? Newton: First and foremost, it's a great community. Families are solid and stable. It reminds us a lot of the community in Glen Bernie. It's a solid American neighborhood …

Conrad's Seafood Restaurant To Replace Vacant Surf City

The sit-down seafood restaurant is expected to open spring 2013 at 9654 Belair Rd. in Perry Hall.

Local oysters, freshly caught rockfish, yellow perch and the main attraction, blue crabs—this planned Perry Hall restaurant is serious about its Chesapeake Bay seafood. Conrad's Seafood Restaurant is expected to open in spring 2013, but only after extensive renovations to the former bar and nightlife venue Surf City at 9654 Belair Rd., according to part-owner and Perry Hall resident Andrea Conrad. The restaurant will be an extension of Conrad's Crabs on Joppa Road in Parkville—a carryout restaurant and seafood market opened by Andrea Conrad and her husband Anthony Conrad in 2007. "My husband is a waterman and we work with other local waterman, as well. For nearly six years, we've been successful because our seafood is fresh and local," …

Vietnamese Restaurant 'Coming Soon' to Perry Hall

Signs advertise the planned Phở 7 Rich at the Joppa Corners shopping center.

As indicated by several newly hung signs along Joppa Road, Perry Hall's only Vietnamese restaurant is "Coming Soon." A building permit on the window of Phở 7 Rich at 4136A on Joppa Road shows, "Change of occupancy from pizza carry-out into sit-down restaurant." The permit was issued on April 11, 2012.  On the largest sign, under "Phở 7 Rich," blue letters read, "Healthy Vietnamese Food." The Baltimore County Department of Permits, Approvals and Inspections confirmed that the property owner is listed as "Salvo Industrial Park" and the tenant is listed as "Aladin Café." Contact information for either was not immediately available, according to a department representative. The location formerly held a Pizza Hut until the franchise merged with…

Perry Hall Firefighters Review New Gino's

Station 55 enjoyed a sneak peek at Perry Hall's new Gino's Burgers and Chicken.

Who needs food critics when you have a group of hungry firefighters? Members of Station 55, Perry Hall's Baltimore County fire station, received a special preview of Perry Hall's new Gino's Burgers and Chicken on Saturday afternoon. "It's always good to get to know your local fire department," said general manager Debbie Wait. Overall, they gave the burgers high marks. Capt. John Ryan, a Perry Hall resident, said he remembers back when Gino's was a fast food staple in Baltimore County. "It's changed a little bit—but I think it's better than I remember. I think the burgers are better," Ryan said. EMT Firefighter Lacey Marino agreed. "It was delicious," she said. The Perry Hall Gino's opened to the public on Monday. The restaurant, founded …

I went to Gino's in Perry Hall today and was extremely dissapointed. The restaurant was dirty, the floor in the kitchen area had food all over it. There were about 6 employees standing around joking and it took about 10-12 minutes to get the food, a single hamburger, fries and chicken tenders. The roll was stale and it was completely overpriced. 18.45 for a single hamburger, fries, and a 3 piece …   more ›
