Watch for widespread closures on New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 2013.
Ready for the 2013? Just remember that some services are kicking off the new year with a closure. On New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, trash and recycling will function as usual, as will county offices, senior centers, health department clinics, the animal shelter, landfills and drop-off centers. Circuit and district courts will be closed, and the Perry Hall Library will close at 5:30 p.m. On New Year's Day, Jan. 1, government offices, district and circuit courts, health department clinics, libraries, senior centers, landfills and drop-off centers and the county animal shelter will be closed. Baltimore County government offices and courts are taking the day off in honor of veterans.
While Veterans Day (formerly known as Armistice Day) technically falls on Sunday, Nov. 11, it is being observed this year on Monday, Nov. 12. So, what's closed? And, what's open? Baltimore County government is taking the day off in honor of Christopher Columbus.
What's closed this Monday for Columbus Day? Landfill and drop-off centers will be open and trash and recycling collection will function as usual. But remember, it's still a normal school day for Baltimore County students. Read more about the holiday's history here on Patch.

Schools are off and trash collection is postponed a night.
Several local government offices will be resting from their labors this Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 3, according to a Baltimore County news release. Expect the following offices and services to be closed: Residents who normally have their trash collected on Monday mornings should set it out on Monday night for Tuesday morning collection. Those who normally have their recyclables collected on Mondays should save them until the following Monday, Sept. 10. Area banks are generally closed as well.

No trash, recycling or yard materials will be picked up and drop-off centers will be closed.
According to a Baltimore County government news release, in honor of Memorial Day, May 28: No trash, recycling or yard materials will be picked up and drop-off centers will be closed. If your trash would normally have been collected on Monday, set it out on Monday night for collection on Tuesday. If your single stream recyclables would normally have been collected on Monday, hold these recyclables until the next scheduled recycling collection day, June 4. Banks are generally closed as well.
