What’s New at the Town Fair?

Find out what chairperson Lynn Richardson has in store for the July 13 community festival.

Organizing for the Town Fair is still underway, although chairperson Lynn Richardson has confirmed a few new exciting additions to the annual festival. “We’re adding pony rides and a professional stunt bike show,” Richardson said. “It’s pretty awesome. This guy is a national act.” In an attempt to win over older kids, Richardson said the fair will this year include a rock climbing wall, as well. “That’s something we’ve been trying to accomplish for a few years,” Richardson said. “We have a lot of the little kids, but we wanted something for the medium kids as well.” Adding to the ambiance will be two additional bands, rounding out this year’s lineup to seven in all—up two from last year. Softball: Owls Oust Perry Hall from Playoffs [Pictures]

Westminster knocked out the Gators 3-0 in Perry Hall Wednesday afternoon.

Don’t let their in-season record fool you. The 7-12 Westminster Owls are not to be trifled with. “We really started to come into our own in the post season,” head coach Ashley Moyer said. “One thing that I've stressed to the girls is that our season record means nothing in the post season. The teams that we face know nothing about us.” The Lady Owls ousted Perry Hall 3-0 in the regional semifinals of the class 4A softball playoffs Wednesday. It's been a little quiet around the Perry Hall area in terms of criminal activity. A major crime hasn't been reported to the White Marsh precinct concerning Perry Hall residents in about two weeks. White Marsh Testing Company To Host Job Fair For Customer Service Reps

Prometric, which plans on opening its global hub between June 1 and June 14, is hiring.

Testing company Prometric announced in January that the opening of its $12 million global operations center in White Marsh would bring 250 jobs to Baltimore County. The company begins to make good on that promise Friday. Prometric is hosting a job fair for customer service representatives on May 10, from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Hampton Inn Baltimore/White Marsh. Firefighters Quell Basement Fire in Kingsville

One person was evaluated for smoke inhalation.

Baltimore and Harford County firefighters quelled a one-alarm blaze near the intersection of Belair and Mt. Vista roads Thursday afternoon. Medics evaluated at least one person at the scene for smoke inhalation, according to Baltimore County police and fire spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher. No other possible injuries were reported.   The cause of the fire is still under investigation, although it appears to have started in the basement, Rogers-Feher said. Three police cruisers blocked off the entrance of Mt. Vista Road from Belair Road from noon to at least 1:15 p.m., Patch observed. The call for fire and EMS support in the 7100 block of Mt. Celebrate Teachers! Winner Amy Blackwell: 'I Do It Out Of Love'

The Gunpowder Elementary School teacher won the inaugural Celebrate Teachers! contest hosted by the White Marsh Mall as a part of National Teacher Appreciation Week.

Her mom was a teacher. Her dad was a teacher. Her youngest sister is a teacher. Her oldest sister is a teacher. It was really just a matter of time for Gunpowder Elementary School teacher Amy Blackwell. “It’s in the family,” she said. “I fought it for a long time. But I wish that I would’ve done it right out of college.” After eight years at Gunpowder, Blackwell was recognized as a top teacher in the area by winning the Celebrate Teachers! initiative hosted by White Marsh Mall. Perry Hall Allied Softball in Pole Position to Win County Title

The Gators beat Parkville 11-7 Tuesday, ending the season with a 6-1 record.

The Gators of Perry Hall’s Allied softball squad took a bite out of Parkville Tuesday afternoon, inching closer to a county title. Perry Hall’s 11-7 win over Parkville ended the Gators' season with 6-1 record, tying Landsdowne High School. Landsdowne’s only loss however came at the bats, balls and gloves of Perry Hall, tipping the head-to-head record in the Gators’ favor. An official winner will be named Thursday. Just two games scheduled for Wednesday stand between Perry Hall and championship season. “I thought we played well. We fielded well. We got a lot of people in who played different positions.
