Westminster knocked out the Gators 3-0 in Perry Hall Wednesday afternoon.
Don’t let their in-season record fool you. The 7-12 Westminster Owls are not to be trifled with. “We really started to come into our own in the post season,” head coach Ashley Moyer said. “One thing that I've stressed to the girls is that our season record means nothing in the post season. Only softball remains in Perry Hall High School's spring post-season as of Tuesday. Perry Hall girls' lacrosse was halted Monday by Dulaney after posting two high scoring 24-2 and 17-1 victories. The Gators were ousted from the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association 4A-3A bracket 14-9. The Gators' only hope of spring silverware now comes down to softball with all other sports finished for the year. The girls entered the tournament with a first-round bye followed by a comfortable 13-0 win over Western Monday. Perry Hall gets a rematch against the Lions who narrowly defeated the Gators 12-11 earlier in the season.
The rematch is on. Perry Hall girls' lacrosse is through to the regional semifinals following a stunning 17-1 trampling over Western High School. The team from Timonium edged Perry Hall in a controversial 12-11 win on April 10. There were discrepancies over a last-second goal that could have forced the game into overtime. The Perry Hall boys and girls lacrosse teams were on opposite ends of high-scoring games in the opening round of the MPSSAA regional tournaments Wednesday. The boys were ousted by Howard High School, 20-5, Wednesday while the girls toppled Glen Burnie, 24-2. The girls will face Western High School Friday at 4:30 p.m. View the full girls' 4A-3A bracket. The Gators beat Parkville 11-7 Tuesday, ending the season with a 6-1 record.
The Gators of Perry Hall’s Allied softball squad took a bite out of Parkville Tuesday afternoon, inching closer to a county title. Perry Hall’s 11-7 win over Parkville ended the Gators' season with 6-1 record, tying Landsdowne High School. Landsdowne’s only loss however came at the bats, balls and gloves of Perry Hall, tipping the head-to-head record in the Gators’ favor. An official winner will be named Thursday. Just two games scheduled for Wednesday stand between Perry Hall and championship season. “I thought we played well. We fielded well. We got a lot of people in who played different positions. Perry Hall High School's boys and girls varsity lacrosse teams are in the state playoffs. The seventh-seeded girls will host Glen Burnie Wednesday, while the 13th-seeded boys will travel to Howard for the first round of the 4A-3A playoffs. The Gators won 20 first-place victories last week.
Perry Hall boys and girls track teams took up first place victories at the school's first home meet of the spring season. The boys posted a commanding 108 points over Parkville (50 points), Loch Raven (49 points), and Carver A&T (12 points). The girls meanwhile, narrowly edged Loch Raven 74 to 72.5. Parkville and Carver took home 61.5 and 2 points in the girls meet, respectively. With a new head coach, Gators prepare for the games to begin this March.
The season opener for Perry Hall High School's boys lacrosse team is approaching, and energy is running high. For starters, there's a new head coach at the helm: Matt Smoot. Smoot, who teaches science, shared his outlook on the Gators' upcoming season with the Perry Hall High School Lacrosse Alumni in an interview posted on Facebook. "We have a very good core of 'team first' guys but we will need to work very hard to become complete lacrosse players," Smoot said, anticipating work in practice to pay off by regional playoff time. "Our goal is to contend for a regional championship spot, but nothing is going to come easy this season," Smoot said to the lacrosse alumni. "We will need to earn every win."
