New Light Planned East of Perry Hall Middle
Baltimore County approved the new lighting in response to public safety concerns.
A new street light is planned east of Perry Hall Middle School, County Councilman David Marks announced. Baltimore County approved the installation near 4218 East Joppa Rd.—an area where vandalism was recently reported on utility boxes and where children often use recreational fields. According to Marks, the gap between street lights in that area was more than double its "optimal spacing" of 200 feet, with approximately 445 feet between lights near the Smith Avenue and Yvonne Avenue intersections. The light will be added to an existing utility pole by Baltimore Gas and Electric Company at no cost to the county. This is an excellent idea. I try to be extremely cautious when driving through there as I'm sure most of us do, however, once in a while a child will peek out suddenly and startle me. I know they are just trying to see what's coming. So many people park in the shopping center for games and it's a dangerous crossing there.   more ›
