County Executive Kevin Kamenetz wants to sell the Towson Fire Station, North Point Government Center and the Randallstown police substation.
Baltimore County officials announced late Friday that it has received eight bids from groups interested in purchasing one of three properties placed on the market by County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. Kamenetz announced in December that he would seek bids on the Towson fire station, North Point Government Center and a police substation in Randallstown. "Government must look for new ways to address aging infrastructure needs while protecting taxpayer dollars," Kamenetz said in a statement released Friday afternoon. "As the proposals are reviewed in the coming months, I remain hopeful that there will be offers that allow us to replace aging County buildings at no cost or reduced cost to the taxpayer." UPDATED (2:37p.m.)—The Towson Fire Station, North Point Government Center and a police substation on Liberty Road are now officially on the sales block. Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz announced the expected requests for proposals today in an emailed statement. The plan, as announced, also includes a new site for the construction of a fire station in Towson. "As always, the market will tell us whether or not our valuation of the properties is correct," Kamenetz said in the statement. The plan involving Eastwood and Norwood Elementary Schools and Holabird Middle School appears tied to possible sale of government land for redevelopment.
UPDATED (1:29 a.m.)—Parents at two Dundalk Elementary Schools learned Monday night of a plan that will close one school and possibly lead to the building of a new police station. The plan involving Eastwood and Norwood Elementary and Holabird Middle schools appears tied to an expected proposal from County Executive Kevin Kamenetz to sell county property for redevelopment. Kevin Hobbs, Baltimore County Public Schools deputy superintendent, told about 150 people gathered Monday night in the cafeteria of Holabird Middle that Eastwood Elementary would be closed at the end of the current school year. The Open RFP Never mentions Lynch Cove at all. Unless the bidders already knew about it they wouldn't know it existed. And both bidders to my knowledge have issues with the Tower remaining where it is. Both own commercial properties, do we really need more empty shopping centers in dundalk? more ›
