UPDATE (Jan. 27, 10 a.m.)—The water main break at Forge Road was repaired at around 6 p.m. Saturday. Gushing water near Forge Road and Perry Farms Drive disrupted traffic Friday evening in Perry Hall. The Baltimore City Department of Public Works confirmed that a water main had broken in that area. It was one of many breaks reported in the city and in Baltimore County amid the Friday snow storm, according to public works spokesman Kurt Kocher. While an inspector confirmed the break, repairs had not yet begun as of 8:30 p.m. The number of homes expected to temporarily lose water service during repairs was not immediately known, Kocher said. UPDATE (7:30 p.m.)—Dozens of homeowners on Hapsburg Court in the Seven Courts neighborhood are likely to lose water service Tuesday night as crews work to repair a gushing water main break. But some residents shared an even greater concern: that their neighborhood will be covered in a sheet of ice by Wednesday morning. As of 6:30 p.m., some portions of the neighborhood had already become icy. As a policy, during a water main break handled by the Baltimore City Department of Public Works, the department sends salt trucks to help reduce ice on the roadway. A 16-inch water main broke in Perry Hall Thursday night, a public works official said.
A 16-inch water main broke on Thursday at Joppa Road and Cowenton Avenue, near Honeygo Village Center in Perry Hall, according to a Baltimore City Department of Public Works spokesman. About 100 water customers, including homes and businesses, lost service as two water mains were shut down during repairs. Crews were on the scene as of 9:50 p.m., said spokesman Kurt Kocher. "If all goes well, it should be fixed overnight," he said. "The best thing is to avoid the area until we get it fixed."

So you don't find it arrogant a person that doesn't have any training or knowledge of the problem thinks "It shouldn't be that hard to turn the water main off" Thats like saying that fire shouldn't be that hard to put out.
