Celebrate Teachers! Winner Amy Blackwell: 'I Do It Out Of Love'

The Gunpowder Elementary School teacher won the inaugural Celebrate Teachers! contest hosted by the White Marsh Mall as a part of National Teacher Appreciation Week.

Her mom was a teacher. Her dad was a teacher. Her youngest sister is a teacher. Her oldest sister is a teacher. It was really just a matter of time for Gunpowder Elementary School teacher Amy Blackwell. “It’s in the family,” she said. “I fought it for a long time. But I wish that I would’ve done it right out of college.” After eight years at Gunpowder, Blackwell was recognized as a top teacher in the area by winning the Celebrate Teachers! initiative hosted by White Marsh Mall. Gunpowder ES Teacher Nominated for 'Celebrate Teachers' Contest

Kindergarten teacher Amy Blackwell is 'nothing short of fabulous,' one parent said.

Gunpowder Elementary's Amy Blackwell is one of eight educators nominated for the White Marsh Mall's Celebrate Teachers! initiative, which highlights the very best teachers in our communities.  Blackwell, who comes from a long line of educators, recalls teaching her stuffed animals as one of her earliest memories, according to her county website. “We have some great examples of teachers who affect their students’ lives in really positive and unique ways. I encourage anyone who had a teacher that inspired them during their own education to vote,” Lisa Bisenius, general manager for White Marsh Mall, said in a release. The winner of the contest will be awarded a $500 mall gift certificate on National Teacher Appreciation Day, Tuesday, May 7. …

Gallery: Prom Fashion on Display at White Marsh Mall

Students from Baltimore County high schools participated in the first Prom Jam fashion show at the White Marsh Mall Saturday.

Post your own pictures and videos from the fashion show!    Twenty-three Baltimore County High School students, include Perry Hall's Daniel Borowy, walked the runway Saturday for the first Prom Jam fashion show at White Marsh Mall.  The models showed off prom trends including metalics and bright colors, as well as a blend of after-party wear.  Stop by White Marsh Mall between now and April 13 for a chance to win $200 gift card. Loved all the photos. It's nice to see young people dressed so well, but so many of the outfits were cut off in the photos, you couldn't see them. Hopefully, the full length gowns will make a comeback as most young ladies wear the short dresses to regular dances now. Prom is special!   more ›

Daniel Borowy to Model As Part of Anti-Bullying Campaign

The Perry Hall High School sophomore who was injured in a shooting at the school seven months ago will march down the runway at the inaugural Prom Jam fashion show at White Marsh Mall Saturday.

Take a sneak peak behind the curtain at a dress rehearsal for the inaugural fashion show and demo, just in time for prom season.

White Marsh Mall Offers Contemporary Style Tips for Prom

All eyes will be on the runway at White Marsh Mall Saturday for Prom Jam.

Prom is just around the corner, Perry Hall. T-minus 45 days to be exact!  OK, so Perry Hall's prom might be a few weeks away, although students can start getting excited this weekend at the inaugural Prom Jam fashion show and interactive event at the White Marsh Mall.  From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, mall-goers will be treated to a fashion show featuring local high schoolers, hair and make-up demos as well as the chance to win a $200 gift card.  “We want to provide teens with the latest prom tips and trends in an entertaining, stress-free way.
