PHOTO: Safest Place To Eat In Perry Hall?

A Perry Hall resident spotted several police out for a bite to eat last weekend.

Special thanks to Perry Hall resident Debbi Mullinix for submitting this photo from outside Double-T Diner in Perry Hall last weekend.  "You can't see all of the police vehicles, but there were six local police cars at the Double-T Diner Saturday morning—not for a crime, but just because our friendly police officers were enjoying breakfast at the diner. It was a neat sight to see ... made me smile," Mullinix wrote.  What has made you smile recently around Perry Hall. Tell us in the comments.

Katie, you believe you deserve a special spot in the hearts of citizens. You don't. You deserve an attaboy or attagirl if you did a good job. If you were a scofflaw taking advantage of every opportunity you are no better that any other working stiff. So, go kiss yourself.   more ›

PHOTO OF THE DAY: Pink Skies Over Weis

Take a closer look at life in Perry Hall.

The Weis Markets along Honeygo Boulevard isn't exactly known as a great place for sunset watching. Wednesday evening proved otherwise.  The sky filled with bright pink, framed by the black forest between Honeygo, Joppa and Chapel roads—quite a spectacle from a supermarket parking lot.  Taken any great photos around Perry Hall recently? PHOTO OF THE DAY: Wild Turkeys

Take a closer look at life in Perry Hall.

Getting a head start on Thanksgiving or just taking a stroll? I spotted this herd of wild turkeys outside my house on Friday morning. It was a first for me, and I can only imagine, a little unusual for the Perry Hall area. But then again, I live right near the hunting-free Gunpowder Falls State Park. I walked closer and closer until some raptor-like gobbling shooed me away. Have you any unusual birds around your neighborhood? Tell us in the comments. Add your photos to the gallery or submit them to Editor Emily Kimball at emilyk@patch.com.

Pretty cool - I saw a rafter of turkeys in GFSP near Dundawan Rd early last spring. A little green space goes a LONG way! We need to continue to preserve some large connected tracts of land and the wildlife will come.   more ›

PHOTO OF THE DAY: Wet Web

Take a closer look at life in Perry Hall.

Is it just me, or do this season's spider webs seem especially decorative? Just in time for Halloween, I snapped this shot outside my home on Wednesday. Have you seen more spider webs than usual around your neighborhood? Tell us in the comments. Add your photos to the gallery or submit them to Editor Emily Kimball at emilyk@patch.com.

PHOTO OF THE DAY: Honeygo Pedestrian Bridge Greeters

Drivers beeped their horns Wednesday morning for a group of kids on the Honeygo Run Regional Park pedestrian bridge in Perry Hall.

All they had to do was wave. Two police cars turned on their sirens, an ice cream truck honked loudly and at least another dozen vehicles beeped at a group of children standing on the Honeygo Run Regional Park pedestrian bridge Wednesday morning.  "We like to do it because we get honks, and I get to act like a silly goose," said Layla Fuller. She was joined by her younger sister Emma, her mother and a group of friends at the park. What are some of your kids' favorite end-of-summer activities? Tell us in the comments.

My kids love to do this on the bridge!!! In fact, I can never get them on the playground at this park because they either want to stand on the bridge to get honked at or ride bikes around the trail. Super cute photo!!!   more ›

PHOTO OF THE DAY: Fall, Already

Where have you seen the colors of autumn around Perry Hall?

We're not even halfway through August and it's already beginning to look like fall around Perry Hall. Back in 2010, experts reported that excessive summertime heat had caused leaves to turn early and show less color. We might be seeing a repeat this year—July 2012 was declared the hottest month on record in the lower 48 states, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Have you seen fall foliage in your neighborhood? Where are your favorite places to walk, hike or drive in the autumn months? Tell us in the comments. Add your photos of leaves turning to the gallery.

PHOTO OF THE DAY: Summer of Butterflies

Take a closer look at life in Perry Hall.

Is it just me, or have you noticed an abundance of butterflies around Perry Hall lately? Maybe it's the heat, or the less-than-usual rainfall—whatever the reason, I'm just glad they're not stink bugs. Patch reader Steven Pope snapped this photo of a butterfly enjoying a Tiger Lily in a Perry Hall garden. If you've taken any wildlife shots lately in your backyard, be sure to add them to the gallery above. What's living in your backyard? Tell us in the comments.

PHOTO OF THE DAY: Learning to Fly

Share your photos of Perry Hall's wildlife.

This little bird wasn't the most confident flyer. It would find a perch, flap its wings and essentially fall to the ground—then it would try again. Do you know what type of bird this is? Have you snapped any photos lately of the wildlife around your neighborhood? Add your photos to the gallery, and tell us what's living in your backyard in the comments. Be sure to enter your wildlife photos into the 2012 Maryland Natural Resource Photo Contest, as well.

PHOTO: Perry Hall or Italian Countryside?

Tell us about your favorite open space areas in Perry Hall.

You'd be surprised how many nooks of trees and farmland we have in Perry Hall. The above photo was taken off Rexis Avenue, near the Honeygo Boulevard and East Joppa Road intersection. Open space has become a hot topic in Perry Hall lately, with ongoing discussions among community members about the merits of protecting some spaces from future development. Are there any areas of open space in Perry Hall that you particularly enjoy? Tell us where they're located, and be sure to share your own photos in the gallery.

I treasure ALL the open spaces!! Perry Hall has become too developed and the roads and schools cannot handle it! Building more schools is not an acceptable option because that means less open spaces! Crime is going up in Perry Hall with the more they build!! Coincidence? I think not!! STOP BUILDING!!!!!   more ›

PHOTO: Baby Turtle, Welcome to Perry Hall

Little animals seem to be everywhere as we approach summer.

It's no secret that Perry Hall Patch is a fan of animal photos—from a corn-eating deer to a running-for-its-life groundhog. Check out our latest, a baby turtle found outside a Perry Hall vegetable garden. Have you snapped any photos lately of the wildlife around your neighborhood? Add your photos to the gallery, and tell us what's living in your backyard in the comments.

FYI, everyone is encouraged to report turtle findings to the Maryland Amphibian and Reptile Atlas project (www.marylandnature.org/mara). You can just send a photo and the location; no need to know the species name. The goal of this 5 year project is to document the statewide distribution of turtles, snakes, frogs, etc, and develop appropriate conservation strategies. Thanks!   more ›
