It was a chicken-fest Tuesday morning at the new Perry Hall Royal Farms. The ribbon cutting drew several public officials and business leaders to the convenience store and gas station at 9620 Belair Rd. State Sen. Kathy Klausmeier asked attendees to close their eyes and inhale the scent of freshly fried chicken—the chain's most famous offering, offered free of charge on platters inside the store. "Everyone is so excited to have a Royal Farms in Perry Hall," Klausmeier said. County Councilman David Marks also praised the new store for its food and the added competition it brings to the area. Workers began preparing the Belair Road site.
Rumble and shrubs piled up around the former BP gas station in the 9600 block of Belair Road Monday morning and afternoon. As announced last month, contractors have broken ground on a planned Royal Farms store, scheduled to open this December. The 5,000-square-foot convenience store is expected to feature at least eight fuel pumps. Reactions have varied about the planned store—with comments ranging from "SWEET... Competitive gas prices and FRIED CHICKEN...WIN WIN!!!" to "i don't think we need a another gas station." Do you have an opinion on the planned Royal Farms? The convenience store is the latest business to open along the Route 43 extension that connects Middle River and White Marsh.
Royal Farms has become the latest business to open along Baltimore Crossroads@95. The convenience store held a grand opening on Friday, which attracted business and community leaders, along with several elected officials. The 5,786-square-foot Royal Farms joins such businesses as The Fitness Rave, United Cerebral Palsy and FreeState Gun Range along with The Arbors at Baltimore Crossroads luxury apartments, all located on the Route 43 extension that connects Middle River and White Marsh. The Royal Farms is also part of the retail component of Baltimore Crossroads@95, a development of St. John Properties Inc. A leasing company representative said the convenience store is expected to replace the Belair Road BP station.
For weeks, the fate of the former BP station, along the 9600 block of Belair Road, was a mystery. "We didn't know it was closing until the day of," said Kristen Green, director of Celebree Learning Center, across the parking lot from the stripped gas station. Business owners have speculated about its replacement. "We've heard that it's going to be a Royal Farms or the new Gino's," Green said. If a Royal Farms came to Perry Hall, would you shop there? I agree "Other Tim". I'm glad to see they are so successful and hopefully they will work out all the glitches. I'm sure they had no idea what to expect in their first few weeks of business. We were there twice this week for chicken and didn't wait at all but it was a little past the usual dinner hour - maybe around 7?? I'm sitting here enjoying a cup of their free, delicious coffee.
