Perry Hall Man Known For History Tours Dies At 76: Report

PERRY HALL, MD — A Perry Hall man known for his history tours in Baltimore has reportedly passed away.  Wayne R. Schaumberg, described by The Baltimore Sun as a longtime Perry Hall resident who brought Baltimore history to life through walking tours, died July 22 at the age of 76 in Ocean View, Del.

"He developed and led tours at Green Mount Cemetery for something like 40 years and they will forever be known as the Wayne Schaumburg Tour," Molly Ricks, communications manager for Baltimore Heritage, wrote in an announcement of his passing. "He also developed and led tours of the 1904 Fire downtown, which Baltimore Heritage was fortunate enough to have inherited. Wayne was a teacher in the city’s public schools for his career, but spent an equal amount of energy on helping Baltimore’s historic places." She added that "there was not a nicer person to walk on Planet Earth."

Schaumberg was reportedly on several boards, including the Perry Hall Mansion. Funeral arrangements are pending. Read the story from The Baltimore Sun.
