Game Preview: Undefeated Perry Hall Takes On Undefeated Dundalk
Friday night lights are back as the Perry Hall Gators host their first home game!
This week the Gators will be facing a regional rival: the Dundalk Owls. Both teams boast an undefeated 2-0 record and have scored a combined 155 points in their first two games.
Last week, Perry Hall defeated the Towson Generals 43-0 and are hoping to continue their dominance this week. Head coach Rocco Bruno says this is a big game for the Gators:
"This is like the game of the week; we're divisional rivals."
The Owls will be a big test for Perry Hall's defense, which has yet to allow a single score. Dundalk running back Jordan Fiorenza has been on an absolute tear the last two weeks, averaging an impressive 162.5 rushing yards per game.
Dundalk also boasts a dominant offensive line, which, combined with Fiorenza's performance through two games, has made the Owls look unstoppable on the ground. Bruno plans to counter the size difference between Dundalk's O-line and Perry Hall's D-line with speed.
"They have a very big line. I don't think ours is as big as theirs. But I think ours is faster."
Bruno compared this game to the Spanish Armada vs. the English Navy. Dundalk may be larger and have more guns, but Perry Hall plans to outmaneuver them to come home with the victory.
Perry Hall sophomore Cory Costner is looking to continue his strong performances from last week, where he caught three passes for 36 yards and two touchdowns. Coach Bruno had this to say about the young star:
"he's been a great surprise. I mean, we knew he was a good player, but now he's hit another gear."
See the Gators on Friday, Sept. 16th at 6:00 PM at Perry Hall football field.
