The Perry Hall Gators lost to the Dundalk Owls last night 27-6.
The atmosphere was electric during Perry Hall’s home opener against the undefeated Dundalk Owls.
Perry Hall started the game strong with a 46-yard touchdown pass from QB Da’Shaun Conway to star receiver Corey Costner. The Gators went for two following the TD but were stuffed at the goal-line.
The remainder of the first half was a defensive slug-fest with both teams punting multiple times. With six minutes left in the half, Dundalk QB Dale Martin completed a 10-yard pass to Ja Bonner to tie the game, but the Owls missed the extra point leaving the game tied at the half.
The halftime huddle was a flurry of conversation; Perry Hall Coach Rocco Bruno spoke to every position group to ensure their second-half gameplan was understood.
One Perry Hall player could be heard saying, “It’s 0-0; let’s get out there and win this thing,” with that anecdote, the energy visibly changed in the huddle from nervous to determined. Halftime concluded with the chant, "Finish, go-hard… shock the world on three!”
Dundalk’s vaunted running game started to go to work in the second half, with RB Joey Kasprzak rushing for a TD early in the third quarter. After a missed two-point conversion by Dundalk, the score was 12-6.
Dundalk continued their dominance on the ground with a TD and two-point conversion by star running back Jordan N. Fiorenza. Dundalk 20, Perry Hall 6.
The rest of the game was slow, with Dundalk scoring their final TD on a 10-yard run by Joey Kasprzak in the last minutes of the fourth quarter.
One highlight for Perry Hall was QB Da’Shaun Conway, who eluded pressure all night and had multiple rushes for 5+ yards.
Although Perry Hall lost a physical, hard-fought game, spirits remained high as the team left the field.
