PERRY HALL - An iconic local shop has closed its doors after 62 years of business. Perry Hall Florist has operated since 1960 and has been at its current location at 4401 East Joppa Road for 36 years.
Current owner and operator Kathy Sanner has decided to retire after furnishing local funerals, weddings, parties, and other events with beautiful floral arrangements for much of her life.
In a Facebook Post announcing her retirement, Sanner said she has enjoyed working with customers and flowers for the past 36 years.
"thank you all for your patronage and trusting us with your floral needs through the years," she said. "Many of our customers are more like friends and family than just customers. I feel I've been blessed to have done countless weddings, births of new babies, and unfortunately too many funerals."
Perry Hall Florist employee Ashley Reinhardt said it was an honor to work for Sanner and help make events in Perry Hall special.
"I loved going to work knowing that I would make an impact on people's lives, even if it was just a short moment. Weddings, proms, funerals, you name it. I loved doing all of it. I never thought I would fall in love with a job like I fell in love with this one."
The store will service the weddings that have already been booked, and will permanently close on November 13th.
According to Sanner, a liquidation sale of the shops remaining supplies is scheduled for early November.
