OVERLEA - Several Overlea residents awoke to obscene graffiti on their fences Wednesday morning.
Baltimore County and City police are investigating several instances of vandalism in the quiet northeast Baltimore neighborhood.
Among the spray-painted images, are many smiley faces, the letters OVL, what appears to be a swastika, and other obscene drawings.
WBAL reports that several residents are shocked by the sudden spree of vandalism.
Lori Aikens, a resident of Overlea says she is surprised to see something like this happen in such a quiet neighborhood.
"I don't like it. I've been here for over 20 years, it's a family-oriented neighborhood and I don't like when kids or anybody comes in and disrespects our property or disrespects us."
WBAL also spoke to David Stout, another Overlea resident.
"I don't know what to make of it. All of a sudden, this community that had no graffiti, now has all this graffiti in a four-by-four-block radius. Fifteen, 17 houses have destruction of property now," Stout said.
Baltimore County Police have yet to name a suspect, and anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the police at (410) 887-5000
