WHITE MARSH - Maryland State Police are investigating a crash that killed one man from New York in White Marsh on Saturday.

Police say the deadly accident occurred Saturday on 1-95 South around 7:20 p.m.

According to police, officers responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit on the road. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a tractor-trailer parked on the right shoulder of 1-95.

Investigators say that Joseph Russell Thomas, 52, was wearing a fluorescent yellow vest while attempting to help another truck driver connect his trailer to the truck. While trying to connect the truck to the trailer, a 2007 BMW crossed the solid-white line and struck Thomas. Police say the BMW also hit the trailer.

Thomas was rushed to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
