WHITE MARSH - A social media post calling for a large unruly crowd to gather at the White Marsh Mall this weekend has drawn the attention of Baltimore County Police.

The post was circulating Instagram this week and calls for individuals to “gather” to “shut down” White Marsh Mall at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 14th.

The post cites the “large, unruly crowd” that inundated downtown Towson a few weeks ago, prompting a heavy police presence and road closures.

“We shut down Towson let’s make White Marsh next,” the post reads.

Baltimore County Councilman David Marks has said he and Baltimore County Police are aware of the planned gathering and prepared to take necessary steps to ensure the safety of residents.

“Our office has been in touch with the Baltimore County Police Department’s White Marsh precinct,” Marks said. “They are aware of a social media post regarding a possible gathering at White Marsh Mall.”

“The precinct has known about this since Monday and will have a robust presence at the mall,” Councilman Marks added. “I am confident they are doing their best to anticipate any unlawful activities that jeopardize the safety of the White Marsh Town Center. I personally will not accept any disruptive behavior and will push for consequences for anyone who creates disruption at our commercial centers.”

The puzzling part about the social media post is that it mentions White Marsh Mall, but gives the address of the Towson Town Center.  All the same, I’m glad that the police are aware of this post and will be prepared.
